Hospital issues

A recent visit to a sick friend got me thinking about what goes on in hospitals if my experience is any way representative.
A number of items came to my attention that struck me as unnecessary irritants that could be easily remedied.

    * the temperature in the ward and in the corridor was exceptionally hot -the patient complained about it and I actually felt faint in the corridor and had to step outside. Is this safe , cost-effective ? Are there no regulations about this?
    * there was huge wastage of food with full plates being served routinely and taken away untouched.
*the car parking charges were very steep and if you stayed a few minutes over the hour you paid for a full hour. This is iniquitous -it's quite possible to refine time measurement more equitably.
There were other issues also which made me think that general management of our hospital systems are not well thought out , are uneconomical and not visitor friendly.
I may add that the behaviour of doctors and nurses seemed quite satisfactory.

I remember once being in hospital and being banned from eating because I was going for surgery the next day. I was still served a meal. I asked one of the nurses about it and was told that it would be a breach of the confidentiality policy to tell the people who serve food that I couldn't eat.
