Office not opening

    HP netbook running W7 Home Premium

    Office 2010 starter is installed & would not open this am.
    Started 'click to run manager' & found that office was downloading an update in the background & would not start 'till this was complete.
    However, it seems to be stuck at 99% for almost 2 hours & keeps pausing & refuses to open. Have rebooted etc. to no avail.

    Anyone with advice on this please.
