Meetup 3.0 - Friday March 1st, The Long Stone from 6:30pm

Well folks, I was on to Soldering Iron there and we were thinking that it's about time that we arranged the third meetup. He suggested the first Friday of each month, but we'll concentrate on the next one for now.

As to where and what time, sure we'll see what'll suit most people. I think Messrs works well, and possibly War or Fag after for those who'd be up for that! Was pretty good last time I thought!

    So, who's up for it?
Anyhow, it's up to ye and I'll add a poll. And of course, as was the case with the last meetup, everyone is welcome.

Perhaps we should have a running list too. I'll start it

Good shtuff, hopefully I can make this next one - thesis has me by the balls! :( Will stick name down for now.

As regards the day/date, as said before I think a permanent date would work best - e.g. first Friday of each month. This way people can book time off in advance etc. and saves the hassle of voting each time when chances are Friday will pull through again.

I would've thought there aren't many things one can't get out of with a months notice. ;)

What would people think about a different venue? Just cos last time so many people came along that we took over half the pub!

Somewhere like Macturcaills would have bigger areas that can be reserved for groups. Or the Long Stone, which has several tables upstairs, and a massive smoking area.

I'd be up for that. I've never been to either but I do like the sound of massive smoking area!!

I'm trying to quit, so I really shouldn't be bigging up the smoking area! But I think a venue with a bit more space would make it easier for everyone to mingle.

Agreed. What time do people reckon is the best ? 8 o'clock, 9 o'clock?

I'm on placement all month so I'm not sure but hopefully I'll make it!

As regards time, we said half 6 for the previous meet ups and it seemed to work well.

That sounds grand to me, although I might not be able to make it quite that early, prob closer to 7.30.

You need a checklist with a clipboard too and some name tags - two for each person - username/realname and doesn't the organiser buy a drink for each newbie too

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Don't forget the prepaid taxi to take the gang from pub to club and then home.

All part of the organizers job.

That's a good idea actually...though that is probably a good few months down the line yet.
If this meet-up thing starts to become regular (which is looking likely), then I think a road trip to various other gay establishments around the country would be good. It is always great to contribute to other scenes and help keep them going:D
Maybe try and attend some of the various Pride weekends during the summer.

As for this meet-up...if only I was six years younger lol

Yeah, I think it'd be fun to get away from Dublin. Not sure if it'd be a runner unless we end up getting people to drive somewhere. Also would depend on people's wallets.....but sure we'll see what happens. :P

Looks like we have a reasonably big group for this meetup so far. So what pub should we go to? So far, the suggestions have been the Long Stone and Messrs. What would ye all prefer? I'd be up for either tbh, really startin to get excited about this now :)

Upstairs in Messrs would be my preferred choice (if we have to choose) & has a fair bit of room/tables, etc. Long Stone is nice though so I don't mind.

Did we remember to invite Rebecca Black this time?!
