    Hey guys,
Longtime lurker in here but try to follow some of the advise given.
I had to post as I need help and had enough! So without a big long story, I've been overweight since a young age. I never really ate a lot of crap but I like food:o ... anyway on Tuesday I decided to cut all sugar crap for lent so no chocolate, biscuits, ice cream, sweets and crisps. I've been on a healt kick for a while before that also. I weighed myself on Wednesday morning and was 13st even.
    Last weeks meals consisted of

BF - grapefruit with pumpkin and sunflower seeds with natural yogurt or scramble egg with a grilled tomato.
Lunch - Tuna Salad with an egg - no wet salad. dressing drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vin

Dinner - salad with chicken/fish or stirfry on a bed of spinich instead of noodles.
    2lts water a day

So weighed myself this morning as I wanted to get proper stats as I wanted to post in the boards challange and was shocked to say the least when the scales said 13st 5lbs... that was a 5lb gain in 4days! please help and let me know how that is possible....

Workout how many calories your eating. It doesn't matter if your eating healthy, if your eating too many calories you will still gain weight. Make sure your eating a calorie deficit.

I get that, I suppose I didn't really think that vegtables regardless (half a dinner plate) with protein could amount to 3500 cals. It is 3500 that gains 1lb of fat isn't it? or am I totally off? I'll track everything this week and see how many cals as It will probably be in and around the same as last week.

Are you a man or a woman? Women's weight in particular can fluctuate hugely from day to day due to hormonal changes.Keep a record of everything you eat to track calories, up your exercise and weigh yourself once a week at the same time.

Make sure you're weighing yourself at the same time of day.

I weight myself first thing in the morning once a week.

If I weigh myself in the morning and then again in the evening, the difference can sometimes be as much as 4 lbs!

Having been overweight and tried all diets including fad liquid only diets. Lost 5 stone and put it back on. Then lost it again. I really believe there is science behind weight loss and maintenance. I constantly despair at peoples knowledge of diet. Its not rocket science, that is not to say I am always successful but just how you need to educate yourself. Personally I find taking the time to eduacate myself around the weight watchers diet has given me a
n insight to a healthier way of and living. That is having a few jars, odd binge just like every normal person. I think a bit of guidance and education from a reputable weight loss group is essential to kick start a different way of eating.

  • Perfectly reasonable fluctuations. I've gained/lost 5/6 lbs over the course of a day, depending on bathroom usage, eating, drinking, training etc.

Try not to watch the scales, and feel the improvement instead. (Trousers being looser, T shirts fitting better, less 'wobble' when you move). The scales are indicative of progress, but your goal isn't simply 'The scales to read a smaller number'.

First part of your post is great. Second is fairly off considering the reputable weight loss group is anything but.
