Filmed over the course of a year, this two-part documentary series enters two Irish prisons and explores life behind bars through the eyes of the prisoner and of the prison officers.

    Link.

    Looks interesting.

Jesus. €65,000 a year to keep a prisoner in Wheatfield.

And who's fkn fault do you think that is Colm??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭COYW

He never set out to burgle people's homes. Must have done it by magic. Smuggling drugs in with the kids and yet people whinge and moan about human rights because they are searched.

The budget won't effect you son. You will still get your free meals and board. That chef seems like a lad who is decent enough. He won't be going back in there.

lad from Cork (drug addict) seemed like he is trying to get his life together. Good luck to him...

    €65,000.00 x 700 toerags = €45,500,000.00 for just one prison.

    Jebus wept

    Prisoners complaining about the dessert.

Your man is in jail for life and he has a girlfriend, okayyyyyy

Funny how they all see themselves as victims!!!

Did you ever have any of these lads in the back of the taxi, Lapin.. :D

It's always good to make a good impression when you're entering a new prison.. I read that in a self help book..

No wonder were broke. That is more luxury than most law-abiding tax payers will see this calendar year.

Colm isn't going to be able for this place, I fear.

Jesus Christ, it's like Butlins for scumbags..

I wonder how much investment the State put in to their victims' recovery.

Did Officer Gillespie say, "there is no smoking in the house, you can smoke in the bedrooms?".
Roll on the compo claims for the next 10 years.

He is in for murder. That is a long time; his ex-"girlfriend" is probably married with two kids but has wisely decided not to tell him.

If I had a taxi I wouldn't be waiting for 2 hours to get home last Thursday night. :(

Shelton Abbey looks more like the setting for Educating Rita than a prison.

Addiction is a terrible thing, drives people to break the law. What's the difference between that ex heroin addict, and someone like Keith Richards or Pete Doherty? Pete Doherty had the cash to indulge himself and not go rob people....

I thought McDowell closed down Shelton Abbey when he was in Minister for Crime Justice.

Dabbling in drugs = caught with €350,000 worth. You have to love the stories these guys spin. This guy has potential for change. At least his sister is honest about that "prison".

Horrible chip-no-your-shoulder merchant. He shouldn't be in a open prison. He has no remorse for any of his crimes. It sounds like it all someone elses fault.

Shelton Abbey - Historical surroundings, amenities, accomodation and scumbags.

Seriously, this is nothing like Butlins. When I went to Starcoast World in Pwllheli in 1995, there was no such thing as early release.
