Yes - dead things in general do smell bad. Although as I general rule I try to avoid dead things.

In the interests of science, we may also need to verify that the animal that the OP is talkign about, is indeed a dog. This is needed to eliminate the possibility that she has smelled various animals in various stages of vitality, but no dogs.

Years ago in work a woman I worked with said to me "there's a dead rat outside. Will you pick it up? It's just that I hate rats".

I went outside and was confronted by a squashed rat with maggots crawling out of the holes where its eyes once were. I got two pieces of cardboard and scraped up the corpse. It made a horrible squelching sound as I did this. For some reason it reminded me of a Cornish pastie.

If dead horses make it into beef 'products', what other dead animals make it into pizza 'meat' products?

I know frogs are supposed to taste like chicken, but maybe that's just because they have extensible tongues.

Frog legs taste somewhat chicken-like, in that it's fibrous white meat and the legs are about the size of chicken wings, and like the wings, they need the meat chewed or sucked off the little bones. I'd say they were a wee bit more rubbery though, and generally they come drowned in garlic so taste is sort of irrelevant.
