    Hi

Would love some feedback on my diet before I consult with dietician. I'm female, 5'7 and 50kg.

    Breakfast @ 8:15:
45g oat bran made with water, 50ml super milk

    Snack @ 10:
Large banana, cup tea with milk

    Snack @ 12:
    Apple, large

    Lunch @ 1:
Large Salad plate consisting of lettuce, spinach, gherkin, beetroot, jalapeño peppers, broccoli, olives, peppers, pineapple, chicken (plain cooked), grated carrot
    Apple, large
    Tea w milk

    Snack @ 3:
    Orange, large

    Snack @ 4:
    Cuppa soup (tesco veg)

    Dinner between 6-8:
Either one tin salmon (tesco boneless, large)/ one tin mackerel (tesco, in brine)/ frozen cod fillet x2 (tesco brand)/ basa fish fillet (aldi)/ one tray of prawns (tesco brand)
    With boiled veg:
Half large head broccoli (sometime use the frozen Broccoli as better value - I love broccoli!), 1-2 chopped carrots, one whole onion/half leek, 4 mushrooms
Sometimes have with approx 1/2 cup uncooked red split/yelli lentils (think about 1 cup cooked?) but only just discovered my love for these :)
All doused in Tabasco sauce which still isn't hot enough!

After dinner snacks incl one large apple, one large pear, and large orange (I eat prob too much fruit I know but try not to eat much chocolate unless offered :) and guess I have a bit of a sweet tooth!)
Usually have a boiled egg most days

Other snacks incl 120g natural yoghurt. One cuppa soup (tesco veg).
Every second day or so would have snack of approx 70g almonds/walnuts/brazil nuts
    Supplements:
Calcium, cod liver oil, vitamin d, complex b
Drinks: herbal teas, 6-7 pints if water, sometimes 1 cup instant coffee with milk( cut back from 2-3 just recently)

Sedentary lifestyle mainly, walk to/from desk job so approx 1hr walking per day, try do a jog/ powerwalk (downloaded couch to 5k app few weeks ago to get me started with the jogging..on week 3 now but prob could have started at that level in the beginning tbh) every 3-4 days weather pending, but def get one in at weekends

    Thank you for any advice!

To be healthy I guess! My BMI is under so I want to get within a healthy weight but dont want to start eating unhealthily! Never followed diets and dont have time to start logging everything i eat on one of those food logs...i believe to eat as natural (ie less processed the better) as possible I guess

Why so many snacks? Soup before dinner everyday?

Cut out some of the fruit and substitute it with berries that'd be one thing I'd do.

Frozen broccoli is not only better value it's better for you aswell that goes for most if not all frozen veg.

To be healthy eat as little processed food and limit your sugar.
Eat a balance of meat and veg with every meal. a handful of meat and 2+ handfuls of veg
    occasional treats are fine.
    eat everything in moderation.
Eat until you are full and only when you are hungry. Snack on nuts (not too many) and fruit (not too much)

DOnt overthink your diet too much, eating healthy is actually pretty basic.

If you think you are too thin, eat more, too fat? then eat less.

I have the soup I guess because I get hungry around mid afternoon! It's only one of those cup of soups which probably are not great..I try to buy with little sodium...I may start substituting with more nuts to up the healthy fats and calories... I guess I wanted to lay my typical diet down because I think I eat healthily and I eat when I'm hungry but my doctor has advised me to eat more given I'm underweight..I was thinking of seeing a dietician but just wanted to get advice from the knowledgable people on Boards :) before I paid for anything, thanks

If you don't exercise, 7 pints of water a day as well as teas and coffees is excessive.I'd also buy fresh fish where possible, I don't eat anything that comes in a packet, cuppa soups are the work of the devil.I'd also up your healthy fats to include avocados and oily fish.

Well they usually advise that if you're eating healthily you should never feel hungry so that kind of scraps the eat when hungry advice :)

Do you not eat any red meat at all?

It looks healthy enough yoou probably need to up your carb intake if you're looking to put on some weight.

A healthy diet is one with real food not packets or jars with a load of ingredients you can't pronounce.

Start by eating real food. Don't be afraid of fat it's good for you.

I'd live to buy fresh fish but can't afford it right now unfortunately so eat oily from cans or mix it up with frozen fillets. When I was younger I lived off the usual student diet of pasta/stir fries/chips/rice and was still a size 8-10 so I've a fast metabolism perhaps.. I don't eat much red meat these days, sometimes get ham in salads instead of chicken..and would get ham on pizzas etc on rare occasion I eat out but on the whole I avoid it. I'm thinking of upping the carbs at dinner with the lentils also..thanks for all your advice!

    Hi orla

That's exactly what I think and try for the most part to subscribe to! Except for the packs of soup and odd chocolate I try to eat as unprocessed as possible and also have changed my attitude to fats ie eating nuts, full fat natural yoghurt though the milk I buy is the super low fat
