Putting weights back in the rack

My gym has a proposed "strict policy" on members putting weights back on the rack but they don't do anything about it. I see people just walk away when they finish their exercise and don't put the weights back. It's irritating cus u don't know whether someone is using them or not. The staff does fúck all about it. What about your gym.

Ever been to a Ben Dunne gym? It's alike a damn mine field with weights lying around all over the place and bars being left loaded everywhere.

Being a fat 'aul fella I have no problem in shouting obscenities at people who leave their shit in my way.

Only gym I've seen weights put back on rack and in some order system was RAW. I was well shocked to see it. Now this was a morning training session so maybe the morning trainers are very considerate of others.

I have to say the lads in my gym are pretty good that way, maybe its because there isnt alot of space so not only would you end up tripping over your own dumped weights but everyone else would too and it wouldnt take long before any dumbell dumpers started getting grief

Ben Dunne has taken away some the dumbells in my gym for them being left round.
Worst is all of the personal trainers can't be arsed clearing up after their clients.
If they don't do it, why would other lazy sods bother.

Worst I seen was when a girl was waiting on the squat rack. Guy finishes up and left over 100kg on the bar at a height she could just about reach even though he knew she was waiting for him to finish.

What ever happened to common courtesy ???

I have to say my last 4 gyms haven't had that problem at all. That'd be work gym in Ireland, Platinum gym in balbriggan, work gym here in Arizona and YMCA here as well.

A lot of serious people training plus conscientious staff seems to be the key.

I train in UL gym and there are signs up saying to put the weights back and there is an audio announcement that plays every now and then. I've heard it so often I can quote it.
"All weights must be placed in the rack. Failure to do so will result in you being asked to leave the gym"

I train in the morning so it's quiet and there are lots of regulars so weights tend to get put back both dumbells and plates. Dumbells are supposed to go in the rack in an order but this NEVER happens as you would need to rearrange everything to put the weights back in the right place. All the 40kg plus DBs tend to be in pairs and on the bottom row. You can normally find dumbells in pairs.

The evening time however was best described to me Wednesday morning by one of the other regulars as "A zoo". And she is correct. There tends to be stuff left everywhere.

What annoys me too is when you get people putting 20kg plates in front of small plates when the rack is clearly labled for small plates. These are usually the higher pegs. There's a reason the 20s are supposed to go in the bottom of the stand....

I regularly see the Ben Dunne PTs training with clients and not putting the plates back afterward.

What chance do we have if the staff aren't even going to do it?

I spent five minutes the other day looking for a 2.5kg plate, when I got back to my bar some dude was taking the other 2.5 plate off it. He then tried to tell me that I didn't need it.
    The mind boggles.

You get what you pay for.

This is Jervis by the way, it may not be a trait of all the gyms/staff.

Westpark Tallaght is another haven for dumbells all over the place and loaded bars just left around, i know staff are supposed to enforce putting them back but i cant recall the last time ive seen a staff member on the floor in a staff member capacity rather than a im a shaping tosser capacity.

This is where i give personal training places a huge +1, go in, everything's tidy, do your training and put it back as your finished for the next client, its amazing how much more efficient a workout is in an hour when all you need is at hand!!!

Surely having a burly police officer, construction worker, cowboy and native american in the gang that they would definitely help with ensuring people put their weights back?
