Any idea how long kalitta will stay in DUB?

Depnding on hangar space to change the engine, they will probably be taking the faulty one back to the States.

Unless they fly a relief crew in as pax, there will be a layover time anyway, not sure what that is these days, depends where it came in from.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Where's parked? In hangar or outside somewhere.

does it take a 747F to transport a CF6 engine?! Are they that big/heavy? Must be an optical illusion, they look much smaller when they're hanging off the wings!

I assume it is transported in a big ass packing frame for protection.

Or was it on the wing and the Kalitta just stopped in on a scheduled freight run to Europe? AOG for an airline is major issue so if there is only a 747 available then so be it.

It was quiet big in all the packing. That 747 is getting ready to leave btw

I didn't know they still had that option on the B747.

Anyone got a shot of this in DUB?

Any new on what happened to the original 767's engine? One assumes it was fairly terminal if they have to replace it.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

It might be cheaper and quicker to replace the engine than fix it on site, it will probably be overhauled and put back in to stores as a spare engine.

In flight shut down, so without tearing it apart to find out exactly what, they don't know. Getting the aircraft back in the air is the first priority, and then the engine can be sorted out etc.

Similar happened a few years ago when the Delta MD11 went gardening beside 28, both wing engines were changed so that it could be ferried back to the States. Anything other than fresh air and fuel going through an engine tend to be regarded as a reason to remove it and look very closely, especially on ETOPS aircraft that are subject to stricter regulation on many aspects of their operation, which is the case with most long haul aircraft.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

This is how an engine is packed for transport usually on the main deck of a freighter

Was sitting in Deer Park (Goatstown) and spotted this going into land. Raging I wasn't out at the Airport to see it.

Any idea if this is going to be a regular visitor?

    No, it's just a once-off visit.
It brought in a replacement engine for a Delta 767 that went sick yesterday.

Spent just 20 minutes at the airport and caught all of these

    This 773 came in

    Then this 77F quickly left

    ug2aY3R.jpg

    Then the 742 came in

    eIGLzAv.jpg

Here's another of the 773 with 742 turning to final in the distance (poor quality) but shows that the 77F didn't have much time to hang around

And the 742 touches down with 773 taxiing in the background

    Great shots.:)

I went for a wander while in work to see the 742 arrive but was pleasantly surprised to see the AF 772 head out and the EK 773 precede the 742. Nice little distraction from work.

Am fascinated by aviation and by logistics.

Its great to read thew info on here but simple question , surely Boing keep a few engines in europe to truck in for a few grand rather than this 100,000 euro freigter.

Doubt it would be a regular visitor. That's twice this year now.. Great shots there Danbo! Great to the only three heavies we have in Dublin, not counting A330 as they don't match with the might 777!

Delta had engine trouble again yesterday and cancelled the outbound flight. I'm just guessing that Kalitta had a replacement engine on board again.

The likes of Boeing&Airbus don't make the engines GE/CFM & RR do some times to the airlines specifics,A 747 engine cost around 10 million so having a few scattered around the globe in secure storage would cost a few bob.
