Dublin Bay 21s a sad scene

What an absolute shame - and a disgrace.

I started sailing in DL a couple of years before the DB24s were sold off - they were really beautiful boats, and I was speechless with admiration for the owners who must have spent their entire lives sanding and varnishing

It was a very sad day when they had a parade of sail in to the NYC and a gun salute to say goodbye to them.

I've often wondered if the grandiose plans we heard rumours of (restoration and luxury charter in Monaco) ever came to fruition.

I hope at least they're being sailed, and don't suffer the same fate as the 21s.

I pass them every day, beautiful looking boats.i used to admire them but I knew nothing about them up until about a year ago, apparently they aren't in too bad condition considering, perhaps the constant rain has helped slightly....
I hear he is sick of people calling in asking if they are for sale...
Lottery money should restore them seeing as they give so much to the GAA!!

these are on the n11 just after the tap pub. always thought it was some sort of boat storage place.

It must be 20+ years since they last sailed. AFAIK the owners decided the maintenance was getting too much and decided as a group to put them into storage, in the hope of being able to restore in the future...

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

It's a shame, boats like these will never be built again. It would be nice to see someone like FÁS take them on and then use them for sail training.
