    Hi,

I am a 14 year old lad, I play a lot of rugby (winger) and do sprinting with my school. I'm 5ft 7 and weigh 60kg.

I'm looking for a diet plan to help me bulk up, without getting too heavy as I'd loose speed. I want to avoid junk food.

Could someone tell me what sort of stuff I should be eating/drinking to get bigger?

Is it ok to take Kinecta Whey Protein at my age?

    Thanks

you need to learn about nutrition. start paying attention in biology and health classes.

protein is not a chemical you 'take' it is a food. its made from cheese.

you eat protein in your diet, and as a growing boy you should be eating up a good balance of protein, fats and carbs.

learn what these are now, and save your self years of poor food choices.

protein is what your body uses to rebuild itself, repair damage and make muscle, you get it from meat, cheese/.dairy, nuts and some other veggies.

fats are what you body uses to make hormones, like testosterone the 'man hormone' it can also be used for energy. you get this from good sources of fat like nuts, olive oil and dairy.

carbs are energy, its the petrol of your body. your body converts carbs into sugar to burn as energy. you get them from veggies, nuts etc.

eat a good balance of all 3 foods, from healthy sources (real food, not processed food) and limit the amount of sugar you eat and you are well on the way to haveing a good rugby career. you wont need to worry about your diet for a good few years if you do it correct now.

  • To answer your question: "Yes it is okay to take Protein Supplements at your age"

But you shouldn't really have any difficulty getting the Protein requirements from your diet. A Protein shake (1 scoop with water) usually has exactly the same Protein content as a tin of tuna, or a chicken breast.

Supplements are to Supplement, i.e to make up for a loss when you cannot achieve it yourself. Eating the right way now, and not being overly reliant on supplements is a better option imo.
