I've bought from them on a few occasions, usually when looking for something that can't be got readily elsewhere in Ireland. I've found them good to deal with, speedy delivery etc and when I did have a problem on one occasion it was quickly rectified to my satisfaction so I would have no hesitation in recommending them. They seem to have a huge product range, always worth a browse.

They do seem VERY EXPENSIVE for a few things... but the item I am looking for works out pretty decent as otherwise it would have to be ordered from England, At least someone can recommend them! :)

    What you looking for?

They are expensive for some items but I have found them good price-wise, on occasion, after doing my research, especially for more specialist items, particularly when delivery cost is a factor.

I was looking for either 4 plastic or 2 metal (longer) saw horses for holding sheet goods..... eventually found some 1 meter wide metal ones on www.iedepot.com which including delivery was €42 and if you order before 3pm they will give you next day delivery (I'll wait and see if that works out to be correct).

I seen handyhardware charge nearly €2200 for a DeWalt mitre saw and stand when I know a lad that got the same saw and stand in Herco in Drogheda for just over 1k

I've used them a few times now for hand tools and other small stuff. Spent near €1000 at this stage over the past 3years or so. The last order was for a lot of hand tools and it ended up coming in a few different deliveries and 2 items worth about €35 were left out, I emailed them about it but I got no reply, that was last summer and haven't used them since.
I've started using Caulfield Industrial, Parfix, Axminster, RS.ie, Workshop Heaven and they've all been great.

I've noticed the powertools on Handyhardware are hugely overpriced for the top end stuff. I'm getting a new LS1013l for €480 and it's €1044 on their site!?

Yeah I was gobsmacked looking at a few of their prices, axminster are amazing and so are machinemart its just trying to get something here ASAP... hopefully iedepot can keep things on time, a lot of the stuff they seem to do looks like the lidl/aldi stuff under a different name.

Old post, but relevant. I ordered a plane, the blade was rubbish/brittle, I returned it at my own expense and have been fobbed off every time I interacted with them. Ugh, typical oirish cute hoor 'business' - "**** you, here's a free kick in the hole on the way out the door, now **** off, we don't care about the small claims court, reputation, integrity and certainly not stupid little customers. Go to be ****ed, I have your money.

Seems to be a one-man garage operation and the guy is a thieving wanker. Sent me the wrong blade and wouldn't take it back.Small minded with no regard for customer. Avoid this ****head like the plague.

Handyhardware are the Same company as onlinetradsmen.ie they are very expensive for most things. They seem to stock items that you can't get elsewhere. Then after you order & have paid they tell you that it's not in stock and it will take longer than promised. Wouldn't be my favourite place to deal with but can't say they even ripped me off either

I had issue when ordering, like that took money and confirmed order. After 2 weeks, no sign. Rang and the lad that took call toldme item was out of stock and I had to pick a replacement. The replacement was cheaper so he said he'd send gift for inconvenience. Sent me a packet of possihead screw driver tips. All got to me amonth later!! It's a shambles of a company by all accounts. Screwfix are way better.

    Yea.
I ordered a product, they fobbed me off for maybe three weeks and then sent me a similar product but not what I ordered, would never deal with them again.

I ordered a couple of bits off this site last week before seeing this thread. Ordered on the 12th, shipped on the 17th and arrived today.

Would never use Handyhardware.ie again. Ordered items off them and, after I followed up, I was told they were waiting for some items to arrive. I never received my order and they have not returned any of my numerous calls / emails to refund my money. Stay well clear of them!!

Stay well clear of these. Hard to believe in this day and age they are taking money off people and then saying they don't have the product. Not even an apology. Customer service non existent.

jebus was jus gonna order something off them cause i know exactly where their business is but not now

I've posted on my experience with this company before. More recently I decided to "take a chance" with Handyhardware again. I wanted to buy a particular tool (a Knipex pliers) that was coming in at about €15 more from my usual online suppliers, so I decide to order from Handyhardware. It was delivered a little later than promised, but delivered it was and I'm very happy with the product and the service. Guess I've been lucky with them so far!

There delivery is so slow and customer service is shocking m

Anyone else placed an order with them lately?

Absolute nightmare. All in stock when I ordered 3 weeks ago and a complete disaster since then. Cannot make any contact as their phone line, email, facebook are all sending automated responses. They claim to still be open and delivering but have zero customer service availability.
I cannot even cancel an order with them now and have no clue what's happening with my order. They had an online chat two weeks ago and someone told me my order would be delivered within days but it wasn't and now the online chat is an automated bot that is basically useless.

Will never order from them again. I appreciate they are busy but jesus... stop taking orders and catch up if you cannot deliver and don't claim on your site how you're still open and delivering when you clearly are not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,189 ✭✭✭✭Sleeper12

They are Irish & I hate to knock Irish businesses but they are bad. During normal times delivery can take weeks but with Covid 19 there is no telling how long. In fairness even Woodies are warning of up to two weeks delivery

Hi, have you had any luck receiving your order? I placed an order 2 weeks ago, still being "processed". Very frustrating

Not sure if people are still ordering stuff from this company but always pay by credit card to be confident of getting sorted.
You have full comeback if doesn't arrive, wrong item, broken etc.
Then just inform the credit card company, they refund you and they will either chase the supplier for you or take the money off him so they get their money back.

Does anyone know what courier delivers for Handy Hardware?

And do they have long delays in delivering at the moment like other retailers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 hackersphorr

I ordered off them second week of April, package arrived yesterday so circa 4 weeks.

They use AN POST for delivery

Was the stuff you ordered all in stock?

I had been waiting for Lenehans to get on top of their orders because I’ve had a good history with them.

Never heard of handy hardware until this morning when looking at alternatives.

I’ve ordered from them in the past.

I think they are essentially dropshipping and hold no stock or very limited stock.

I wouldn’t be ordering from them again and I think if you search boards they aren’t well rated in many threads.

I ordered from Handyhardware at the beginning of April and goods got delivered with 5 days. Ordered again the second week of April (2 orders). Had tried to communicate with them every few days after 2 weeks of nothing, got an email saying one of my orders was cancelled last week at my request (not true) so I cancelled my other order with them - I won't be using them again.

They seem to be completed overloaded with orders and do not limit the amount of orders on their site so orders must be piling up.

With DIY stores due to open after the 18th, I would recommend holding out because at the rate Handyhardware are delivering it would be into June before (if) you received.

I would recommend Goodwins & Screwfix (if in your area) over Handyhardware.

So they are slow to despatch anyway regardless of any current situation?

    Okay.

I did a search but only found one other thread but no opinions on them.

I actually got an e-mail last weekend basically apologising for the delay and stating they were going to either dispatch my order or arrange a refund. Then on Tuesday I got an AN POST tracking mail.

I only ordered a single item (a hose) so it all arrived. What product are you looking for?

I would echo what mac 09 said, you would be as well waiting until the 18th at this stage.

Painting all the rooms and not a paint brush or roller in the house.

I have the free time now - won’t have that after the 20th.

I used them a few months ago, couldn't argue with their service. Website had a glitch, so I was waiting a few days, when I called up they had it sorted and my order was with me the next day.

yep , just been told my order will take four weeks to ship as awaiting stock .
Thats what i get for hitting the lowest price on google .

I find this more common on irish e-commerce site , that try to be bigtime but cant do it right .

Off to ebay now to order the item from the uk ... if the other one shows up at some stage it will be a spare .

I don't rate this company at all but in their defence a lot of goods come from the UK. There are delays from most countries due to Covid-19 but Brexit is worse. Took 4 weeks to get a Screwfix.ie delivery, 4 weeks & still waiting for viking direct. Another .ie website. I'm waiting over 2 weeks for a delivery from Germany via ups. According to the tracking its still in Germany. Some An Post deliveries are taking 5 to 10 days from one part of ireland to the other

Thats what i like about e-bay , it usually says like ... 150 sold /more than 10 in stock .
You can be sure it will be in the post tomorrow .

I ordered from handyhardware.ie the other day for an item listed as 'in stock' only to get an email the next day to say "there is going to be a delay of 3 weeks before we can ship the item as we are currently waiting on the stock to arrive".

Needless to say I won't be using them again - currently trying to get refunded with no response so will go chargeback route if this drags on more than a few days.

Yes , i bet they know exactly what they're doing ... they will continue to take our money to cover their overheads.
But they dont shii-t who they inconvenience along the way ... avoid avoid

Mean while my ebay uk purchase yesterday is already shipped and i have tracking .
Turns out to be a legit hardware store https://www.alanwadkinstoolstore.co.uk/

Please don’t use this company. I ordered an item from them online and was told 1/2 days dispatch. Then got an email saying it would be several weeks as item not in stock. Multiple emails back & forth as there was no sign of it turning up. Two MONTHS later and they are still trying to fob me off saying it’s on its way etc. The customer service person I spoke to this morning said she would check into it and call me back in “5 minutes” and 3 HOURS later no call. I told her that if it’s not arriving to my house next week that I want a full refund today - still no call back. From reading other reviews I think they are scamming people by selling items they don’t have, they never order from the manufacturer and hope you give up waiting. €30 down the drain 😡

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,276 ✭✭✭RainInSummer

They're not great. I got everything I ordered from them but only after hassle.

Can't even unsubscribe from their emails FFS.
