No point on me voting now as I wouldn't be able to say which suits better until closer to the date.

No locations yet, a part from Dublin, I'm still looking into it. If anyone has any ideas for restaurants in Dublin post them up here, if they have a website pop the link up too so everyone can check out prices and menus. :)

Here's a reasonably priced Italian place, good food too. It's in Temple Bar so pretty much surrounded by pubs. Just an initial idea.

I think one of the other forums went there recently (I couldn't make it) I must find out what they thought. You gonna be staying up in Dub Sue?

I live in Maynooth so I can get a bus home whenever. :) What about you?

I live in Wicklow. There is a night bus as far as Greystones and then I could be picked up, or I can stay in the hostel or something.

Here's another place, I really like the food here. The "bits and pieces" menu is good value I think. Centrally located.

This place has an alright early bird special too. I like the look of it.

Another Italian in Temple Bar, great value.

I fully applaud the effort put in and fantastic idea! :) Feel bad for critiquing, but, if it's gonna be as far away as March, is that not very close to Paddy's Weekend though? (Would a further date away not closer to Paddy's bring more people? Just a thought.) May as well go to a more quiet part of April then if going out as far as March lol. Also, was there not more of a choice of dates in the locked Poll-Thread?! If at the weekend of the 15th/16th March could turn into a Paddy's Beers. :D:) That could be cool?!? :) Dub. for Paddy's anyone and make a weekend of it? Yayyy :D Hhmmmm on second thoughts, that particular Weekend could be total madness and mayhem though. Meh. :/

Alas Dubland is quite the trip for moi anyway. The usual story: Not really a Foodie myself so I would need to logicate? / logicise? if that's a word lol, the concept of paying for petrol to drive to Dublin, and likely pay for accommodation as well, - to go for Dinner that also has to be paid for!! Lots of monies involved there! But it is a fab. idea though. Have been to a couple of Regional Beers, and a few other things, but don't think have been to any Forums' Beers. :) Midlands or somewhere else more central would be ideal for non-Dubs, but maybe the majority here is Dubs? But shure I'm sure there is probably other Midlands Beers on at some stage that would work well for that. :)

However I do need to visit some peeps in the Capital, havn't been to see them in a while, so could go for this for a couple of days. Dependent on finances between now and when the time comes, I shall see how things pan out, remain open and not bow out as of yet. :)

Here endeth my requested ideas and thoughts for the night.

I'd be a nope for Paddies weekend. Got something on the 15th, going to Girls Aloud the 16th, Paddies is the 17th and Paddies week in Dubland is MAYHEM!

Well, I haven't had any complaints about March thus far, until now of course. :) If people are more interested in April than March then say so here, if there's a majority in favour then I'll move it to then no problem, but we can't cater for the individual unfortunately. :)

The poll in the previous thread did have more options but it was becoming clear that a Friday wasn't hugely popular so I thought it best to narrow the options down and I'd messed up slightly on my end when making the poll so I was getting confused so had no other option but to make a new thread and poll.

Dinner is by no means mandatory. There is interest in the dinner so it will be going ahead, it will take place earlier in the evening before the pub so anyone not interested in going to dinner can go straight to the chosen drinking venue.

Paddies weekend would be fairly awkward I'd imagine.

Pasta weekend would be maddness, and would make it alot more expensive for those of us travelling up, with the cost of places to stay going up

Who's complaining? As for myself I was making observations. Don't think/see any individual has asked to be catered for specifically. Catered for in terms of what? Doubt that would be possible anyways.

Complaints in terms of a preference outside of the month of March is what I meant. No one has asked for that, I was just stating the obvious, I tend to do that. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,746 ✭✭✭✭Galvasean

OP, just pick a date and stick with it. Last thing you want is the beers organised by committee. Unfortunately no beers will ever suit everyone so you're best off not overthinking these things.
Build it and they will come...

I wouldn't be in favour of dinner aswell but I hope ya'll have a good one. If I was going, I wouldn't want it around Paddy's day either.

Evening lads and lassies. So, based on the poll this is going to be taking place on Saturday the 23rd of March.

My thoughts for locations are dinner at Boticelli (http://www.botticelli.ie/) and drinks in Messrs Maguire. Feel free to make your voice heard in regards to these options.

I will be putting up a poll to get numbers for dinner in due time.

    :)

How about moving next door to Mexico to Rome ?

    http://www.mexicotorome.com/

I do like Messrs for beers.

Alright girls and boys, two weeks to go so I'm going to need y'all to speak up over the next week, I needs me some numbers. In terms of the dinner, I'll pretty much need a definite answer by Thursday (the 14th), booking for a larger group needs to be done a wee bit in advance. If you voted yes in the poll and that still stands, awesome but if that's now not the case, let me know. Maybe's give me your final answer. And obviously those who haven't voted but would like some eats let your voice be heard.

I will also be booking a spot downstairs in Messrs for the beers but I don't need exact numbers for that, just a rough idea so once again, do speak up.

Feel free to throw me a PM if needs be.

It's going to be great craic lads, so if the date suits do come along! :)
