Sorry if this has been done before, I am just curious what everyone's experience is. Obviously stopping at traffic lights etc., roundabouts etc. doesn't count as stopping. Me, I drove, from my North County Dublin Suburb to Salthill, 2 hours and 40 minutes.

First Gulf War , I drove from Kuwait into Iraq , 500 odd miles, one of the lads forgot his swimming hat and sun cream, had to drive back for them and then back to Kuwait.

4.5 hours. technically I did "stop" in standstill traffic, traffic and weather was mental on a bank holiday Friday and I drove from Dublin to cork after work and crawled along behind a crash on the N7 (or whatever exit it is!) for ages. There was nowhere to stop at 9pm on a Friday night in the pissing rain, I was so stressed and thought I'd never get there! I don't know how lorry drivers manage

For added excitement I never stop at them.

About 3/4 of Irish people under 40 have driven 12-18 hours non stop somewhere in Australia. So that's probably the longest. It is for me anyway.

Well, without stopping... You'd be limited to a full tank of petrol.
Personally, we drove from Portland Oregon to San Francisco a few years in one day and only stopped for fuel along the way.
    Took about 10 hours.

    Don't know. I don't time it.

Think I made it to the end of the road before the instructor instructed me to get out.

A few years ago I left Dublin on the ferry at 9am one morning, drove across England to the chunnel, drove to Paris, and then down to Biarritz. Arrived in Biarritz at around 10am the following morning. So there were several stops for ferry, chunnel, and fuel, but it was 1 trip and about, I guess, 20hrs driving.

In Ireland, either Belfast to Limerick or Ennis to Derry would be the longest. I've done some long car trips in Australia as well, but really prefer to stop every 2 - 3 hours just to refresh and have a break. During the holidays in Australia there are 'driver reviver' sites on main highways every two hours where you can pull over, have a coffee and a kit kat. One of the Traffic accident commission slongans is 'rest revive, survive'.

I did 9 hours straight a few years back in Australia. From a little town called goolgowi in NSW to Sydney. Had her sisters Toyota prado (landcruiser) which had 2 diesel tanks, must ask her again how much it was to fill it, I've forgotten! Did the return journey at a more relaxed rate with plenty stops but was stuck for time getting to Sydney that night.

14 hrs only stopping for fuel. Dallas to Oklahoma if i remember rightly. Could have been Nashville though. Journey was incredibly slow due to snow storms and a serious fatal accident involving 4 articulated trucks on the freeway

Home to visit my parents every 6 weeks or so in Derry - about 3 hours - used to take 4. Think that's the furtherest without stopping. Only stop of the dogs are with me.

9.5 hours, Cork to Dublin. I know. It was pre-motorway days, and there were 3 or 4 spots of bad flooding. I nearly went demented - the car was a Japanese import, and the radio frequency only went up to 88, so couldn't pick up anything in Ireland, and only had 1 tape in the car, as *someone* had decided to clean the car for me.

I'd very often drive to Wales but that doesn't really count as I have to get on a ferry or els I'd end up in the drink 4 hours drive this side, 3 hours drive that side . And a 3.5 hr ferry crossing.

I left Kells, Co. Meath at 5PM and got to Celbridge, Kildare at 3.30AM (a one hour journey, usually). Snow was to blame!! The following night I booked into a local hotel!

I did 600KMs in NZ. I left hours late and could only stop to fill the bike which I did three times!

Monaghan to Tralee, Christmas Eve 2010. 7 hours in the snow. Burst into tears when I got in home through sheer frustration and relief...

Around 9 or 10 hours driving from near Bloemfontein to Cape Town. 4 of us were meant to be sharing the driving from Joburg but the others started drinking after their first stint so I drove the rest. Nothing more boring than driving through the desert on a straight road at night. The only excitement was nearly hitting the back half of a donkey (the front half and a bashed up truck were another 100 meters up the road).

New York to los Angeles, did it in 5 days travelling at 60 mph for 10-12 hours a day.
Because of my then visa status I figured I could either drive at 70 mph + , stressed out from looking for police check points, and make only an extra hundred miles a day, or drive at the speed limit without any stress.
I have driven across America three times in total,on my own every time., I enjoyed the solitude and the scenery.
    It's a big beautiful country.

About to drive Buenos Aires to Cordoba, about 750km all in, but I reckon we'll stop mid way for food and trip to the toilets.

Left Kildare and drove to Rosslare, got out in Fishguard and did 1200miles pretty much non stop, back to ferry and back to Kildare. 2 days, no sleep. Not in any rush to do it again. Red-Bull was the only winner, their sales in the UK had a massive spike that couple of days.

About 8 hours Canberra to the Mornington Peninsula in Oz

Deffo not the longest trip... But I drove San Fran to LA on the pacific coast highway in a couple of days in a convertible Mustang withy best mate. Remember arriving into Malibu with Boston's 'More than a feeling' on the radio. Every time that song comes on the radio - I'm right back there.

    What. A. Drive.

Recently did 588 miles in one trip from the Grand Canyon to LA....absolutely amazing, what a memorable day!!

San Diego to San Francisco. 500 odd miles.

Went to bed about 10pm while my mate was on the piss. He got in around 2:30, woke me up and I drove him to San Fran so that he could go train kids at football at 9:00am up there. Fecker slept the whole way so I'd no entertainment.

Kerry - Dublin, then Doonbeg in Clare, then down to Adare, back to Dublin and home to Kerry, started at 2 in the morning one night after a tough weekend sleepwise, and finished at around 12 the following night. Various groups of golfers onboard except for first and last journeys. Obviously stopped for food a couple of times.
    Mileage maybe 750 to 800.
This was about 10 years ago, and the sprinter buses didn't have tacographs then. Was still highly illegal though.

Wouldn't do it for any employer today.

I do want to drive to Johannesburg someday, but that takes 6 months, costs about 30k, and is much too dangerous these last few years.

Longest road trip on my own from starting point A to final destination B, Mojacar in the South East coast of Spain to Dublin with an overnight in a mates house in Tarragona was approx. 2,650 km driving plus ferries.
Longest drive without sleep was Tarragona on the East coast of Spain left at 09.00 and kept going only to stop for fuel, snacks and bathroom, usually all at the same stops, got as far as Rheims in France (East of Paris) approx. 1200km some time around 02.00 before having to take a sleep in the car.
