Barring an injury to a big player I think I'll be looking at getting rid of Demel this week, with Davies being the likely option.

Newcastle are looking good and some of the new arrivals should be considered. Sissoko has come in at £6m and could be a great differential.

Title should obviously be GW 25, I'm sure a mod will fix at some stage :)

    You can edit it yourself.

Hit 'Edit', then 'Go Advanced'. Can sort the title in there.

Never noticed that before, always thought you couldn't edit a thread title. Cheers.

Looks like Stoke defenders could be facing the chop sooner than I thought!

Cameron and possibly Begovic out, but not sure for whom. All I know is that Stoke are poison at the moment and I want out.

    Mignolet perhaps.

Good call, I'm thinking either Mignolet or De Gea, with Dawson coming in for Cameron. Though QPR defenders are starting to look decent value, only one conceded in the last four (with Chelsea and now City in those fixtures).

thats just a waste of a transfer imo. are sunderland (31 conceded) or spurs (28 conceded) any more likely to keep a clean sheet than stoke (29 conceded)?

It's all about form though, and bringing in the right players at the right time. Stoke have only started being leaky recently, whereas Sunderland and spurs are looking more solid now.

it's all about upcoming fixtures. after arsenal next week stoke have a run of 7 nice games. they also had tough enough matches the last few weeks e.g. chelsea, city, swansea away, liverpool, spurs and everton so it's not surprising they let a few in.

I just realised Mignolet will actually cost me .2. Begovic is only worth 5.1 to me.

the stoke everyone relied on for clean sheets before christmas wouldn't have conceded against wigan and today they conceded 2 against wigan, at home.. their defence currently doesn't look as tight as it did, never mind the fixtures

Think I'll shaft Cameron too. Hasn't scored more than 1 pt in his last six. Like yourself maybe I was keeping him for the Wigan game and hopeful of a 6.

    Time to look elsewhere!

I have Cameron but I can't justify bringing anyone else in until after the Reading game. I'm more concerned getting Gibbs out of my team than anything else!

2FT...i'm like a kid in a candy shop. Am planning...wait for it...

    a points hit...

..ah not really. But Rory would want it that way :P

I took a points hit yesterday, we'll see if it pays off. Was a choice between either

    Davies for Demel
    Clichy for Cameron
    Zabaleta for Luiz

All of these would have worked out. Genius that I am though, I went for Evra for Luiz. I expect nothing less than an own goal.

@Futureguy - I have faith that you could make 10 transfers in a gameweek and still come out on top!

As said in the post below yours, it's all about form. Stoke look hapless at the moment. I might not shift both of them, but I think doubling up on the Stoke defence is madness at the moment, regardless of fixtures. Spurs have a nice run too.

Same value for me, but I'm still considering it since I can just about afford the upgrade. I think I might keep Begovic for now though and shift Cameron.

Have to agree its madness having 2 stoke defenders they had a great run between nov and dec have got themselves safe from relegation and the intensity has gone from their play. With their fixtures no harm in having Beg or shawcross if you got him from the start or cameron but one is enough.

Honesly, I was stunned you didn't go for a City defender after mulling over it all week.

Anyone looking at Fabio? QPR have tightened up and he's playing in midfield.

    Only 4.2 as well.

I was thinking past this week's games tbh, it was either a United or City defender. City have Liverpool and Chelsea in their next three games and I can't see them keeping clean sheets here. United have a cracking run for the next 8 games, this swung it for me. As for Evra over Rafael, I don't think he's worth the extra cash but I have it to spare based on my next few transfers so worth the punt. And as I said to S.M.B I'm hoping to be proven wrong when it comes to Evra's attacking ability.

I put a lot of thought into each transfer and debate the merits of a points hit each week, and 90% of the time choose against them. Despite a few bad decisions I know the difference between bad choices and sh*tty luck, and I am taking a hefty dose of the latter this past month! I seem to have a rake of decisions each week and have managed to fall on the wrong side of practically every 50/50 decision. Coming from an odds background I'd struggle to repeat my last 20 decisions if I tried 10 times! Would have been better off flipping a coin.

It's easy to look at City in hindsight and wonder why someone wouldn't choose one of their defenders - if you watched the game yesterday you would admit they were lucky not to concede. Taarabt could have bagged a brace last night. Had QPR and Swansea scored last night, which was more likely than not (Sunderland never looked like scoring), and Stoke kept a clean sheet as many had predicted/hoped, the scores would look very different today. Stoke admittedly have fallen apart the last month, last night was a bit of a hopeful gamble. As was you gambling on 0-0 in the Swansea game!

Backing the nag (Stoke) is gambling.
Backing the favourite (Sunderland) is also gambling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

How do you make Sunderland the favourite? They are fairly hit and miss with clean sheets and Michu is always a danger. Either way 0-0 was not the likely result last night. After half an hour it was though, Sunderland looked dreadful.

And Stoke were not the nag, this would have been Wigan/QPR. Stoke were strong defensively against City in the FA Cup, and were good first half last night.

Utd have better fixtures than city however utd have the CL to contend with too and those two games against real are going to take a lot out of them its a big step up from anything they will face in the league. Having said that evra is the least likely defender to be rotated but some of those easier games will be harder due to the team fergie picks with Real in mind.

    Just luck I guess :p

Anyways, big night tonight...hoping to break the top 500. All the ducks are lined up, just need Bale and co to pull the trigger. Bale might be out for Gerrard pretty soon...

    Good point.

I'll be looking at a City defender after the Chelsea game tbh, Gibbs hasn't been performing and has to go. Would be great if he scored/assisted tonight though.

If you believe it's anything else could I recommend a life of professional sports gambling?

Have you not already broken the top 500

    Nah, rarely gamble.

I've never been in the top 500 at the end of a gameweek. My highest has been 665 (GW 22). Jez, just realized I have never been outside the top 50k all season. 60 points in hits :pac::pac::pac:

evra and zab have been the best two full backs in the league this season . Your lucky in that with your money you can have both without it really weakening ur front 7. Im thinking if smalling doesn't start tonight ill get him in as id fancy him to start at fulham and least one of the games either side of the real cl game

i had Smalling for about 10 GWs.

it was decent differential a couple of times, and he rotated quite well for me, but you need to have good backup defenders just in case he doesn't play.

Ye all my other 4 defenders are playing so thats what I was thinking. However with this DGW now I wont be bringing smalling in also I just saw that Utd have an fa cup game after the real match so smalling will prob play that which will be no use to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 315 ✭✭Ice87

Jose Enrique back tonight by the looks of things. Liverpool have been solid enough without him so it will be interesting to see if Rodgers sticks him straight back in. Might be an option for the DGW.

    10.6 to replace Ba with.......Any idea's?

Already have RVP and Suarez,or take a hit to get Auguero?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,600 ✭✭✭roryc

I'd hold off on Aguero until after Suarez has his DGW, but definitely consider bringing him in, I know I am. City have tough fixtures over the next few GW's.

Id agree with that maybe do nothing next week then go ba to sturridge for DGW.After DGW get Aguero in for either suarez or sturridge

Even if you do have good backup defenders, you can never foresee who might get injured/suspended/have no game. That's the problem with the likes of smalling/dawson. I know I'd be fecked this week if i had him and he didnt play as two of my defenders are injured.
