I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn't find any place else so I'll chance my luck.

Oh and a warning in advance, some people might find what I have to say gross and disgusting, so stop reading here if you may be one of those people. :)

Okay, so at the end of June in 2012, yes a whole 7 months ago, someone stood on my feet, well more like stomped, while dancing.
Somehow they managed to jump on both bug toes at the same time, not quite sure how.
So basically my toes hurt for a while, naturally enough, and then the toe big toenails started turning black and blue. I was actually concerned one tow may be broken at one point when I couldnt bend it properly so I went to the doctor.
She said that it wasn't broken and the two nails would just fall off.

Like I said it's been 7 months, and I kinda would have expected the nails to have fallen off by now.
You can see that they are slightly raised at the bottom, or nail bed, so I think a new nail has started to grow underneath maybe, but the old nails don't seem to want to budge. They are lose though, I remember one time I was cutting them with a nail scissors and the scissors could easily slide completely under the nail, but that was about 3 months ago and still no change.
In doing this aswell I seemed to remove a lot of the dried blood underneath the nails so they're not as black and blue now, but still quite obviously damaged.

I'm mentioning this now becuase they've started to hurt a bit lately, and I'm not sure if it's normal for this to go on so long.

Can anyone tell me what they might know about this and what I should do next?

Go to a Chiropodist! or atleast go back to your Dr!

Screw the chiropodists, head to the doctor.

    OP, you're fine.

Nails are tough as.... nails. In most cases, having a blackened toe over the new one coming through is far more preferable as new toes can be quite soft until they are nearly fulling grown. In work there were 24 of us in a dorm, before Christmas, and most of us had 2+ blackened nails. The only people who encountered trouble were those who pulled off the nail, or kept messing with them.

I'd leave it for a bit longer. See a podiatrist or chiropodist if you're really concerned.

    Thanks for the advice.
Since they're starting to hurt now, maybe it's a sign that the new one is finally gonna push off the old ones.
But if that doesn't happen and the pain continues I might head to the doctor I think.

Why go to a doctor, when they'll only refer you to a podiatrist or chiropodist?

    They didn't last time.
Could be cos I live a good bit away from any services like that, so they try and take care of it themselves, I dunno.
