Most of Brendan's guests are from the RTE Canteen this week, they even brought the chef with them :pac::pac::pac:

Love/Hate star Aoibhinn McGinnity will be discussing her role as Nidge's (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) wife Trish in the RTÉ crime drama and her new role on stage.

Also joining the Big Fella will be chef Neven Maguire, who will discuss family and food, and finance expert Eddie Hobbs, who will explain why he thinks Ireland's recovery is being held back.

Comedian and writer, Carol Tobin, tells us about her battle with depression and coming out the other side of it.

Music on the night comes from X Factor winner Matt Cardle, who will also talk about how his life has changed since winning that £1 million recording contract.

I love Nevin Maguire, I have two of his books, very well written and easy to follow, his apple crumble helped me make a good impression on the neighbours when I moved here. I used to make them as Christmas presents.:):):) One neighbour has five grown up sons so I used to make a tray of it for him, he told his friends in the pub that he had to hide it under his bed to make sure they did not eat it all on him:D:D

That sounds a good line up MrsD......

I could do without Eddie Hobbs......

Unless Brendan eats him up and spits him out - that would be ok I suppose..

    Surely he's had his day??....:(

(I know, don't call me Shirley....:))

Tom Vaughan Lawlor would be a far more interesting guest. Just for his posh boy real accent...

What is it with RTE and their suicide/depression obsession? It's bizarre. Also find it weird that they still keep pushing this line that it is a 'taboo' that 'needs to be brought out into the open' and 'nobody is talking about it'. Strange that back in the day when this actually was the case the figures were much lower than today and the more people have talked about it, the more the figures have increased. Not saying it shouldn't be talked about, but it's morning, noon and night at the moment and I'm sure it could push some people over the edge or plant seeds in people's minds that weren't there before.

    More depression.:(

I'd rather listen to that ball boy from the Chelsea game the other day discuss at length the trauma he has endured and the effect the experience is likely to have on his future plans for throwing footballs back to footballers.

Oh, and how are the ribs son?

The Polish will likely get the pi$$ taken out of them during the soccer friendly Wednesday week because of their horsemeat.

This thing about the "it's only cheap burgers that were affected" really bugs me.

The "cheap meat" is all some people can afford these days.

They're definitely playing it safe with Neven. If they had Richard Corrigan on the show, he'd probably be claiming there was manure in the burgers as well.

Our local butcher said that his sales of burgers (he makes his own steak burgers) have risen sharply since this story broke.

How can it be commercially viable to ship the rubbish ingredients used for burgers from Poland to Ireland, they must he getting them for almost zero price. Ireland with it's beef industry should be awash with the junk required to go in to the burgers.

It must be awful difficult for Neven to watch that clip of his mam :( I've a lot of time for him, he seems a very genuine guy.

Edit: He reminds me more and more of Franc (Peter Kelly) they definitely like their fancy brooches :D

but the crap thats in the cheap burgers are not good for you

Re: depression- January is seen as a depressing month. Maybe that's why they're talking about it??

Doubt its going to plant a seed in someones head. Especially if the people talking about it are showing how they've overcome it.

Don't really see it as anything different to someone coming on telling their story about surviving cancer etc.
