No need for anything more than one of the cheap cigarette lighter us b power adapters or a dedicated little power regulator check ebay for a massive selection. Something like http://www.ebay.ie/itm/DC-12V-to-5V-3A-15W-Step-down-Converter-Regulator-female-Panel-mount-USB-for-car-/161006629218 might suit.

Don't get an inverter as the power loss is massive going from 12VDC >240VAC>5VAC.

    I wouldn't power straight off the 12V

Why do you want one with a type B connector?

You seem to have failed to understand the concept of USB ports used for charging. One of the concepts being they use a USB cable and you don't get much more bog standard and common than an A to B cable. And guess what connector is on the regulator I posted the link for? And guess what type of cable would connect it perfectly the USB charging port on a B260a?

The current demand from the B260A is 2A - no standard USB port will supply that.
Hmm... if it were me, I'd look at a 12V to 5V regulator circuit with adjustable output and capable of 2A. Have a look on ebay.

Here's one with a mini-USB outlet already on it and I suppose you might get an adapter to take it from mini - normal USB type 'B' on the output.

However, I think drawing 2A through a mini-USB connector would be a bit iffy and unreliable.

Sorry I must have been half asleep when posting my previous comment and just wasn't thinking straight... of course I can just use the power supply you linked to and then use an A to B connector :o Will order now....

Thanks for the links. You'll see above user posted a link to a power supply with a USB connector. I can just juse an A to B cable and I should be sorted

    Oops, so he did. :)
Yeah, that'll see you working. The full-size 'B' connector hasn't given any trouble with up to 2A going through it.

    Just a quick update...
Ordered an unlocked B260a from eBay that came with a little external (indoor) antenna. Using a Vodafone SIM Card and all working fine. Connection/Speed is acceptable given the location.

Only disappointing thing about the B260a is I was hoping that there may have been a filter on the firmware which allowed blocking of sites etc. - There are filters for blocking IP/MAC addresses, but nothing for blocking things on the internet side of things... i'll have to get my thinking cap on

It's a bit sparse on the firmware - but there are intriguing gaps in the screen layouts where I suspect other firmware might have extra facilities. I wasn't successful in finding alternatives to the 3 firmware and didn't want to brick it, as it was my only 3 router at that time.
Now, it's not - I have two other alternatives, so might fiddle with it.

I see where you're coming from. I'm in the situation now that I don't want to make a sh1te of this router as it's in situ now so don't want to have to go arsing about with it.

I'll keep trawling online anyhow; if I come up with anything i'll post here. If you have any luck yourself you might let us know.

Thanks for all the tips btw
