    Hi,

A family member has become addicted to Facebook 'Slot' Games and gambling games. Unfortunately this is leading to a lot of stress in the family and some financial losses. Can anyone tell me how I can block these facebook games from their account and also other Gambling websites?

I've password protected Gambling websites but they managed to reboot their computer to an earlier time which obviously wiped that and allowed them to continue.

Essentially, there is no effective way to block it. Particularly if they have more technological knowledge than you. You block it off their facebook account, they'll create a new one. You block access off the computer, they'll either find a way around it, or use their phone, or a different computer.

Assuming they have control of their own finances, there's not a lot you can do if they won't admit they have a problem and want to stop. It may be worth contacting Gambler's Anonymous

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

Thanks for your reply! They are not more technologically advanced than me but know the ways to get around these kind of things, like most in the same boat.

You can block in the router but to be honest, this isn't a technical issue as much as an issue with compulsive gambling.
I'll leave this open for now but maybe you should consider posting in Personal Issues instead.

Could you advise on how to block the router? No idea where it should go so I put here hoping someone good with technology might be able to help. I'm not sure personal issues section would be of any help when it comes to blocking such things, but thanks for the advice.

I think biko's point was that no matter how technologically-minded you are, there are always about a thousand work-arounds. Blocking it will not be a solution if you don't address the underlying problem. The Personal Issues forum is a good place to receive advice on the problem.
