There's a lot of options on the market today, Tayto seems to have dominance over the Irish market today but I don't really have much brand loyalty so I don't mind buying a cheaper bag of crisps or paying more on occasion for one that tastes better in my opinion.

    How about you guys?

Yes, I also buy crisps that taste nice, especially C&O Hula Hoops.

    King.

I'm partial to the Kettle Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream also.

Not into Smokey Bacon at all.

Wouldn't be mad into Salt & Vinegar but got into the habit of mixing bags of Cheese & Onion with Salt & Vinegar to surprise my palate.

Can't stand cheese and onion. Tayto salt n vinegar or smokey bacon ftw.

Not mad about Walkers but they're often cheap enough so they do.
Tayto and King are about on par.
I had a bag of O'Donnells recently and they were delicious.

I still haven't tried Keogh's yet however so I can't say they are the best just yet.

Not convinced by these, got a few bags when they were half price after the launch, wouldn't be bothered getting them again even when I saw them on special offer at the weekend in Dunnes I think.

Odonnells are the business when you're out having a pint of guinness....

King Gold Standard - seriously good

I can't get Taytos here in England. I can't even order them on the website. They'll send them to mainland Europe but not here. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭Fixer Upper

I find Tayto a tad too greasy. Walkers all the way!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

    Tayto - Yes yes yes
    King - very close second
    Hunky Dorys - \
    O'Donnells - never tried
    Keogh's - /
    Walkers - they're meh
McCoys - dont do cheese and onion, its some fancy name like cheddar cheese and spring onion. Horrible though

Perhaps the Northern Ireland Tayto company have exclusive UK rights?

Can't believe the amount of people not voting for Tayto on this one, would have thought it's pretty much accepted that they're the best C&O there is, no debate needed. Philistines the lot of ye! That said, Hunky Dory Buffalo crisps are fecking lovely too.

Does anybody remember the bags of plain crisps you could get years ago that had a little dark blue sachet of salt in them so you could add your own if you wanted? Yum

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,080 ✭✭✭EoghanIRL

    Without a doubt hunky dorys

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,076 ✭✭✭Eathrin

I'm surprised at the amount of people that are voting walkers.
Not that they're disgusting or anything, but I wouldn't consider them particularly tasty in comparison to some Irish crisp brands.

Very true, as if someone starts a row, you can just slash their throats with one of them. Shame their too fcuking hard and sharp to eat though.

Not as bad as Kettle crisps though, the stanley blade of the crisp world.

Golden Wonders were quite nice back in the 90s. Im assuming the golden wonders in the shops at the moment are the same brand? They seemed to disappear for years. I like King too and King Jackets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,080 ✭✭✭EoghanIRL

Yeah, but that's given me a great idea. Cheese & onion crisps as a pizza topping! Or has it been done already?

Just a quick one is it possible to get jackets crisps anywhere?
they were the more luxury version of king crisps.
    mmmmm Quality.

On my way over to the 24 hour to pick up two packs of King Crisps, the best of the best of the best.

I think it's king or maybe tayto that have launched their cheese & onion crisps to china recently and they cost €5 for the chinese to purchase them for 1 pack. ?.

Thats another brand i dont see much of these times actually or Sam Spudz

Perri are owned by the same company that own Hunky Dorys, Tayto and King. http://www.largofoods.ie/our-brands/

Apparently they also own Sam Spudz:

    http://www.largofoods.ie/our-company/company-history/
Subsequently, Largo Foods followed this with the purchase of the “Sam Spudz” brand in 1995

Sam Spudz Burger Bites and Onion Rings six packs are available in supermarkets anyway.

Unreal, been saying it for years.

Anyone who doesn't mix eating a bar of chocolate while eating a bag of tayto is missing out on a taste sensation.

The taytos you get up North in the yellow packet are the best ones, followed by Walkers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭RidleyRider

Definitely has to be walkers- even though they smell!
