How is everyone feeling about these? I'm pretty worried. I'm doing a one year postgrad & I keep panicking about how much weight each module holds, and the fact that this year is my only chance to do well! I've never been so worried about a result before, especially since one exam went horrendously.

Anyway, I know the results are out before 2 p.m. tomorrow, but can anyone remember from last year, whether they came out during the night?

    Thanks,
    Musefan

Last year for semester one results it was 2am, and for semester 2 it was closer to 6am. I could be mistaken though!

I feel sick. I worked harder than I ever have in my life, did nothing but study for a solid 12 weeks but the exams didn't go too well & I know I'm going to do brutally.

Summer I can't say cos I was on placement and didn't get results, but last January they were updated at just around 6am.

I've seen them go up any time from 2am to 6am.

If you aren't sleeping Mozilla Firefox has an add on called check for change that will periodically refresh the page and play a noise when it changes.

If you are sleeping I guess they'll be up when you waken.

I did however note that this year it's before 2pm, every other year has been 5pm.

6am rings a bell with me but not sure for which semester. Not because I was awake for it, but my nerdy panicked friend was.

I figure I probably passed them but I doubt it will be anything too stellar. I did SFA in the study end for them. Kinda f-ed about last semester so I will try convince myself to do that wee bit more.

I have work tomorrow so there's no way I can stay up. I think I might be leaving my laptop on and use Check4Change as an alarm clock!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,103 ✭✭✭misslt

It was definitely last January, I was working too and got up at ten to 6, nothing, I refreshed and they were there :)

Id say sleep as normal, they'll most likely be there when you get up. (And if they aren't, ill be a gibbering mess)

    Tomorrow -

    We all did great! Drink!
    ...
    We all failed! Drink!
    ...
    We all passed! Drink!
    etc etc...

I for one want to get the results over and done with. Not dreading them per se, just fed up of waiting in such anticipation.

So is this going to be the official exam results thread?? Every year without fail I have to follow the exam results thread and look at it before I log on to UCD connect so I can prepare myself before I open SIS.... cant stand the feeling of opening SIS and not knowing whether or not they are up, and clicking refresh six thousand times..... so will this be the thread to follow for the next few hours? good luck everyone

Ugggh, I've been sitting on the fear of one fail all over Xmas, a subject I hatttted but was core so had to do it, and I'd say I'm right on the border line of pass / fail, REALLY don't want to have to repeat it...anticipation is a killer.

Touch wood all the other ones went well enough though.

Just wonder does anyone know do the cut results often change from the provisional results are can you pretty much take that its gonna stay the same

I've had mine go up and down in the past 4 years... It's generally obvious if it's going to happen. I got an NG in a module I'd sat and had already passed with CA... I had one go down in 2nd year which was kind of horrible. The whole class got given their lab grade instead of their weighted grade. I seem to be a minority in this though, generally unless there's something missing it won't move...

Do you have to actively get your results updated for the 14th if you know what I mean? Like if you got an A+ you obviously wont have a problem with it, but do they recheck everything anyway or something? I heard they double mark every exam but I don't know if that's once for provisional and once for final results.

I'm really happy with my results, but my elective dragged me down surprisingly. Oh well, I have my electives for next year planned anyway and they'll be fine, plus I'm only in 1st year so if I can keep this up I'll be over the moon!

I'm pretty sure they would just spot check exams rather than re-correcting every single one. It's probably double checked before provisional results and then spot checked by independent body before final results.

I've never heard of results changing from provisional to final, but if it did, it wouldn't move much, like from a B to a B+ or a B- or whatever.

If you aren't happy with a result though, it would probably be a good time to contact your lecturer and ask them if there's an extra couple of marks in there to bump you up from a B to a B+ ........or from an E to a D-!! Would be surprised if there was any movement from provisional to final results though, I'd say it's very rare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,416 ✭✭✭Maldesu

I had a grade change from a B to a B+ last year but that was it. If there is a change done there will be a * beside the name of the module in your credit statement.

If you aren't happy with a grade and want to appeal I think you have only 30 days to submit it.

is a D+ universally considered as a pass for every course?
Just got that in one exam.Depressed to say the least:(

Is anyone else waiting on thesis results? I got my module grades but that's it

A D+ is a pass, yes. But it's not the end of the world, you can have one or two not so great subjects in a semester as long as you do very well in the others. One subject isn't that important, it's your overall GPA that counts. ;)

I don't get ya, what do you mean 1.7? Hopefully not GPA!! :pac:

Ah not to worry, it's one semester, pull your socks up and you can still make it out with a good degree! Only sh*t one is doing repeats if you have a few :(

As crazy as it sounds, I'm somewhat happy. I was expectating 3 Fs,
resulting in 3 repeats which would amount to €690. However I only got 1 F and 1 G, so I will only have to pay for two, and then I'll compensate the other 2 which were Es, and then work my ass off this semester. **** happens, but I try to keep a positivie outlook!
