    That is all

Maybe add a poll to see who people think will win.

I'll be supporting 49ers but wouldn't mind either team winning it

    Troy Aikman??
Isn't he the Fox commentator. Would it not be Phil Simms?

The odds for the game have the 49ers to win by 4.5 points.
Sounds about right to me. I can see the Ravens having awful trouble with the niners run game which will be one of the key matchups.

Do I think Andrew Luck will eventually win a Super Bowl? You better believe it. Phil Simms was a pretty harsh critic of Luck before the draft. Would be fitting, that's all :)

    Ravens for me

  • 9ers for me but the ravens have proven me wrong twice already I'd be glad to see l ray win another sb but is also be happy with the 9ers winning as its a change from the pats steelers giants ravens over the last while

9ers looking to stay perfect in Superbowls. Ravens looking to see off Ray Lewis in the best possible fashion.

Obviously enough both teams will fancy their chances, 49ers knocking out the Packers then going to Atlanta and winning the NFC on the road.
As for the Ravens, pulling it out of the fire in Denver was some going, to follow that up a week later in Foxborough was outstanding considering double OT in altitude only 8 days earlier.

Is it on an hour later this year, thought it was always a 10.30pm kick off irish time?????

    ??

The last 3 winners were the Giants, the Packers and the Saints.

The Patriots' last win was in SBXXXIX (39), and the Ravens' last win was in SBXXXV (35)!

Don't mind either of these teams, so going to be impartial for this one.

Depressingly, I think they have it right, I will back the dog, and I'll lose.

When they get it right, they really get it right - 49ers giving up 3.5 last night just the latest example.

I went with the 49ers, but then I fancied an upset when I picked the Colts over the Ravens, then I fancied 'my' team last week over the Ravens and last night I put the house on the Pats over the Ravens, but I guess Lewis is saying 'over my dead body' :pac:

    /go Ravens :p

Voted niners because there was no Randy Moss option.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 209 ✭✭theRB

I think the niners will win. They're a lot like Tebow's Broncos last year in that they play a really unconventional game on offense that other teams find hard to deal with. Still, it feels ridiculous to think that in 13 days Colin Kaepernick could be lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy.

You are doing them a disservice there i think, they are a totally different beast and Tebow is no Kaepernick. Yes they are unconventional but a far more potent force, both on offence and defence. I think they'll win, but i wouldn't back them 1.6 or so, either team can win this.

Disappointed none of Manning, Brady and Rodgers will be in the final. It will be a fascinating match but i like at least one flair QB (Manning is not a flair QB but a legend for other talents) in the SB. Maybe Flacco can finally prove his doubters wrong. Nobody would argue with that Ravens team winning it. Winning in Denver...winning at New England...they would be worthy champs.

Oh, absoloutely Kaepernick is better than Tebow, in fact most of this 49ers team is better than last years broncos, I just think its the unconventional playstyle that could push them over the edge to win this superbowl.

    49ers
It would be so ironic if after nine years with the Niners Alex Smith's final season netted a Superbowl but the 49ers defence has weakened significantly since the regular season and if Flacco continues his form he'll be more than a match for Knaepernick with the sheer amount of weapons he has.

I think either way it will be, Randy Moss has been lost in the wash to some degree but if anyone's stats dictated a ring it's his. Not as feel-good as Ray Lewis inspiring the Ravens to glory but fitting in its own way too.

    49ers
    Not just Lewis

Most likely the final game for 6 time pro-bowler Matt Birk

Who was at the Superbowl last year.......as Walter Payton man of the year :)

Ed Reed probably not his last game but almost certainly his last game in a Baltimore jersey

As a former Patriot I wouldn't begrudge Moss a well deserved ring. But I think it's destined to go to the Ravens this year.

Very close poll. Looking like last season when the Patriots and Giants both had 130 votes each IIRC.

    Interesting fact here:

    http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/1/22/3903228/2013-super-bowl-xlvii
Looking at the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens, you can find plenty of connections between the two teams. The most obvious, which will be beat to death by Feb. 3, is that Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh are brothers. If you didn't know that, well congratulations on learning something new today.

Slightly less known is the fact that Jim Harbaugh and Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis were teammates on the 1998 Ravens team. Albert Breer of the NFL Network took to Twitter and sent out a team photo from that team, where Lewis and Harbaugh can clearly be seen.

But there's one other connection that you may not know of. It was brought up on Tuesday here, but was also noted by Harbaugh in a press conference a couple weeks back: Lewis notched his first career sack against Harbaugh back on Oct. 13, 1996.

Harbaugh was the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts that day, and Lewis managed one of Baltimore's four sacks in the game. It's kind of fitting, given that Lewis could be playing his last NFL game before calling it a career and hanging up the cleats for good.

When asked about the sack, Harbaugh noted that he'd just heard that he was Lewis' first career sack, and laughed about it, saying "My legend grows." He said that he doesn't remember the sack, however.

Alternatively, he does remember the sack, and is going to use the Super Bowl as his ultimate revenge on Lewis, who kicked off a legendary, Hall of Fame-bound career with that one sack. Or maybe Harbaugh really doesn't remember it, or the fact that the Colts actually went on to win that game.

Still, it's one more connection to make this game just a little bit more interesting. Any storyline helps the two-week wait.

Really excited for this Superbowl....but then every year there's excitment in the leadup to it!
I voted for the Niners because they are the more complete team even though the Ravens have been very impressive in the Play Offs. They are feeding off the emotion of Lewis' retirement but I think the Niners have more talent on both sides of the ball and should win out.

This is awesome: The NFL announced Alfred Morris, Donald Driver and Aaron Rodgers will join kids to run a lemonade stand at the Super Bowl.

Morris and Rodgers continue to be two of the most ridiculously likeable people in the nfl.

I always look forward to it, but when the Patriots aren't in it, I always put a large bet on to make sure I get really involved in it. In college, a housemate and I pooled all our money into a bet on the Colts - Saints Superbowl. Colts were 5 point favourites, but we did a custom spread of Saints -9.5 in a double with Drew Brees as MVP. We lived like Kings for the rest of that month :D

Nice, nothing like gambling away everything in college.. and it paying off. Too many times in the casino whilst up at college it went the opposite way! Must check back to see what your backing in a weeks time!

Right now, I'd fancy the 49ers to win by a touchdown. Really felt when they changed to Kaepernick midway through the season that it'd make the difference and ensure they went all the way - so I'm going to stick with that line of thinking.

Presume that's the same SF Giants hat that Smith was fined for?! The one he was warned about countless times all year that a fine would come if he kept it up!
