As an avid dendrologist my favourite generalisation would have to be that the red wood tree is taller than the oak tree. The might red wood has always been one of my favourites and must admit the generalisation sits well with me. Also one can't leave out the ultimate generalisation, algebra.

I think you'll find that the example you give about the trees is a misconception rather than a generalisation....?

Based on 10 yrs teaching Irish Travellers an education- It does not work- It never does- a total waste of resources on behalf of the Dept of Ed. GIVE UP!
They have no interest, motivation or staying power to see it to the end- just attend enough days in order to get the required documents signed in order to get funds/grants/free books, uniforms. The minute any reduction in the above is mentioned- a huge hue and cry about inequality/racism.
