Hitler, the people who made them build the pyramids, the conspiracy theory forum ect. ect.

Why all the hate towards them, why not hate the Croatians?

I've actually had some people genuinely claim this (and berate me for it)- the RC church only formally repudiated the idea in 1965.

As a Jew myself, the reasons I have found people most commonly have for hating Jews have been a mix of:
    - a sense of suspicion towards Jews due to the insularity and small size of the Jewish community
    - jealousy towards Jews' (real or perceived) success
    - acceptance of Jewish stereotypes which have been propagated in the media
    - hatred towards Israel

For anyone who is genuinely interested in the subject, I'd highly recommend "Antisemitism: The Longest Hatred" by Robert Solomon Wistrich

Jokes need to be funny or clever, that was neither. Hence the 'not getting it was a joke' bit.

People hate Jews because of their behaviour in this world. They think they are the superior race, 'those created and chosen by God'. They don't want anything to do with you or anyone of a different culture. They manipulate whatever they can, these days on a global scale.

The Germans hunted them. The English hunted them. The Romans hunted them. And the Egyptians enslaved them.

This isn't coincidence. These things all happened for reasons. They move into a country and feck it up so bad that the natives start hating them and then the inevitable happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,731 ✭✭✭jam_mac_jam

Because they are different? A lot of people are backward who don't like the idea of anyone different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,168 ✭✭✭franktheplank

Historically Jews were bankers in Europe.

In the middle ages the church forbade Christians to charge interest (usury as it was then known), Jews were allowed to charge this and so became prominent in the banking sector.

Even into the 17 & 18th century European nations had 'court Jews' who acted like a minister for finance.

As far as I know there are still a lot of wealthy Jewish families linked to banking and it's associated activities.

I'd imagine this is where the hatred came from. Is it justified, no of course not.

Part of the genius of the Jewish people is they actually made a term special for any hate that they get. And to say it or be called it is considered really really bad, and people are very afraid of being labelled as that, so they just keep their mouths shut. So Jews get a free reign to invade countries that do not belong to them, kill people, and bomb schools full of kids. And all of this funded by the U.S. because 'the Jews definitely don't run things over there!!' And no one says ANYTHING out of FEAR.

Is there a term for Anti-Italianism? Anti-Greekism? Anti-Frenchism? No. If there was, would it be considered an awful thing to be? Nah.

That's part of the terrible genius of what the Jews have running these days.

Entirely correct. There is almost irrefutable proof that the man did actually exist. He was just the most successful conman of all time.

    Fancy that.

I'd imagine that as a group the actions of the Isreali state against the Palestinians in recent times doesn't do them many favors either.

That said there are of course very many Jews who oppose this, so for a reasonable person it is no grounds for a generalized anti-Semitic outlook.

Ah yes but the Jewish people get a special term all for themselves! It's not just racism, it goes beyond that. To be called a racist is far more socially acceptable than to be called anti-semetic.

Slightly contradicted yourself there on the racism.

To be fair to the Jewish people, considering the list of people who've 'hunted' them, they deserve a special word to describe a unique brand of hatred.

And no they don't deserve any such thing. It prevents people for questioning their actions when they start acting up. Like nowadays.

Like anglophobia? Or Islamophobia? Or homophobia? Any intelligent person can tell you that there are a great deal of terms to describe hatred directed towards specific groups out there.

I've found that most people don't voice antisemitic opinions because they don't want to be perceived as bigoted idiots.

Invade countries? Ah, you're talking about the one country, Israel, is it? Because last time I checked, antisemitism most certainly hasn't existed since the foundation of the state. In fact, it's because of European antisemitism that the vast majority of Jews fled to present day Israel.

    1) Jews in general don't claim to be a race. Nazis most certainly do consider us as one, though.
    2) 'Created by God' - yes, you'll find as a rule of thumb practically every single religion claims that they have been created by God. The Jews have been chosen to perform certain mitzvot/commandments, but this does not mean that they are superior. In fact, I think it's pretty fair to say that Jews have gotten a pretty shítty deal by being chosen. Seventh Day Adventists, Mormons and members of the Unification Church also claim to be chosen- so what of it?
    3) 'They don't want anything to do with you or anyone of a different culture' well as the child of a mixed marriage, I do find this one amusing. I attend college with and am friends with people from different cultures and those with a multitude of beliefs as well as those with none, and really don't understand this ridiculous claim.

Please do share how the Jews managed to fúck up Germany, England, the Roman Empire and ancient Egypt? Persecution of Jews in the aforementioned areas is a mark of shame on them, not us. Jews have contributed hugely to many nations and if you have any doubts on that you may want to look at who's been winning all the Nobel Laureates.

In the field of medicine alone, Jewish contributions are staggering and continue to be so. It was a Jew who created the first polio vaccine, who discovered insulin, who discovered that aspirin dealt with pain, who discovered chloral hydrate for convulsions, who discovered streptomycin, who discovered the origin and spread of infectious diseases, who invented the test for diagnosis of syphilis, who identified the first cancer virus, who discovered the cure for pellagra and added to the knowledge about yellow fever, typhoid, typhus, measles, diphtheria and influenza...

A world without Jews? Yeahhh... good luck with that.

Semitism: (semite) of or relating to or characteristic of Semites; "Semite peoples".

Sticking an "anti" in front of something doesn't turn it into a special word, it simply means you're against whatever that may be. Someone may be anti-Italian, anti-Greek or anti-French, and it would mean the exact same thing, it's just not as commonly used as a term.
And yes, it would be considered an awful thing to be, because only extreme idiots would make those kind of generalisations about entire groups of people, based on ridiculously superfluous claims.

Judaism is a religion, not a secret society of people trying to control the world and make everyone wear little hats and afros.
