from your question my advice would be purchase some whey protein. you can take as is or turn into a weight gainer by putting some in a blender with oats, peanut butter, and milk or water. this is cheap and effective. just be careful with the measures, as the calories can add up quickly. you want your weight gain to be muscle gain not fat gain im sure

    Cheers for that,

any recommendations for the cheapest place to buy whey protein, its seems pretty expensive in most places and doesn't last that long really?

the most popular would be myprotein.ie or bulkpowders.co.uk

as a person who's gone through many different brands of protein id highly recommend below. 45euro for 5kg including delivery by DHL within a week. Its an excellent quality. Bear in mind its a mixture of whey and soy protein in case you have issues with soy products. its 85grams of protein per 100g.

if you dont want to give the germans anymore of our dosh then id go with myprotein :D

You'd be better off with myprotein, bulkpowders or the protein works

    Why do you say that?

    Why do you say that?

better of buying a good quality whey protein concentrate then a whey/soy blend. Also some people find soy protein irritates their guts

i would agree with this also. but if cost is a worry as you said above then i think the blend is a great compromise. last summer i went through 5kg of straight soy protein on a cut. its fine once it is a supplement to your diet, getting most of your protein from whole foods.

    for whey id recommend:

Just been looking at this stuff looks good and is a reasonable price.

    http://ie.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/impact-whey-protein/10530943.html

Would this do me or should I look at there weight gaining products again I'm just looking for something to take along with doing the weight lofting to gain weight.

    Perhaps this stuff is better

the myprotein impact whey is good quality whey @ 80g protein per 100g.

the hard gainer is used to bring up your daily calories to a level to enable you to gain weight(muscle). it has 35g protein per 100g. the rest is carbs and fats.

my own preference is to try and get as many of my calories as i can from whole foods. so my advice would be get the impact whey and as i said you can add oats and peanut butter to turn it into a 'hard gainer'.

if you are only starting out then your diet and water intake are the essentials to try to get right. try to get 1g of protein per lb of bodyweight. i.e. i am 90kg so convert to lbs and i take in 200g of protein daily. The whey protein is used to help reach this figure.

the only other supplement i would recommend is creatine. it is safe and proven to work. so if youre ordering from myprotein you could consider getting some creatine too, either the ordinary monohydrate or higher quality 'creapure'.

but before ordering try make out a good diet plan. Theres loads of info on this site and other. have a look at nutrition101 sticky
