I ordered pizza and then didn't have enough money...

So as the title says, my brother and I ordered ourselves a Mizonnis with me being full sure that I had enough money in my purse... When the pizza arrived it turns out that I only had €16 of the required €20, even after searching everywhere in the house. The incredibly nice delivery guy let me away with the €4 but now I'm after finding a fiver in my purse that I apparently disappeared when I searched my purse before!

So what do I do now? Do I call them back and ask the to collect the money? Do I drop it in next time in town? Do I keep the money and say nothing?

see if you can give it to the delivery driver direct, chances are he paid that €4 out of his own pocket.
can't see the company themselves letting you away with it, although mizzonis are known to be ridiculously generous..

Due to him being decent enough to let you off €4, you should drop it in the next time you're in town. I wouldn't bother ringing them to come and collect it, probably too much hassle for them to come back for the sake of €4.

Either phone them and tell them that you'll pay the extra the next time (and tell them to thank the delivery guy for doing a nice thing) or say nothing and hope that they haven't blacklisted your number for the next time you order from them.

Why didn't you ask for the any pizza for a tenner deal that mizzoni's are doing at the moment? Even with the 2 euro delivery charge you could have told the driver to keep the change. He'd have been up, rather than down, 4 quid!

A lot of those delivery guys get paid pittance for each delivery and often rely on tips to make up their money. You so screwed him over. Make it right.

Sounds like a scam to me

That's why I feel so bad and want to get the money to the driver himself but I'm not sure how I can.

Call them up he might be passing so he could pick it up, tell him to have your euro handy.

tell the delivery guy to scrape off and keep the toppings for himself, im sure you'll have enough money for the bread!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,323 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

Tell him to drop back down because you wanna give him €5.

When he arrives tell him you're actually €10 short!

    ???

    Profit

Ring them up and see you inadvertently short changed the man and have since found money so if he is in the area this evening he could collect it, or you'll drop it to the shop over the following days.

Well, a barman in a Dublin pub rang me last week on the public phone in the pub to tell me that the person who rang me from that phone left her wallet behind (he rang the last dialled number). I went in and collected it for her. I gave him €20 for his honesty because the absolute hassle of replacing all of those cards and so on would have been enormous. I could have simply said 'thanks' but in fairness, his honesty saved a lot of hassle.

Likewise, perhaps some small sign of gratitude might be nice, although unnecessary.

Tip him well next time, at very least the amount you left him short tonight.

He probably won't until he's passing. Wouldn't make much sense for him to put himself further out of pocket by making a trip specifically to your house.

If the guy doesn't come back for the money tonight just drop it in to the pizza place tomorrow.

And €20 for a pizza?? unless it's a rare treat that sounds like a rip off and crazy money to spend on a pizza to me. I make my own and including 00 flour and whatever toppings I want they don't usually cost more than about €3/4.

If you can make the Mizzonis mega wheel for €3/4 I will give you €100.

I don't have a pizza oven so it wouldn't taste quite the same I'm sure, but I can make any pizza if I have the toppings. It's not rocket science.

Edit: ok I checked out their menu online and I can't find one called the mega wheel. I'm curious, what are the toppings on it?

    Isn't it over 2 foot wide…?

I know it's not, but I don't think it's possible to make that mentioned pizza for the cost of 3 or 4 euro. I just can't imagine how it could be done, even buying in bulk.
It's something like a 26" pizza. and it is magnificent.

edit: and would cost around the €20 mark with 2 or 3 toppings on it from what I recall.
although they may have been underselling it seeing as the Mizzonis in Carlow shut down.

Is it? no idea. If it is then I retract my statement. I couldn't make it because it wouldn't fit in my oven! I could make two 1 foot wide ones though.

It is supposed to be for two people anyway, right??

Mega wheel just refers to the size of it, you can get any kind of toppings on it I suppose. for example ham, pepporoni and mushrooms on a 26" pizza, could it really be done for €4?

btw OP, did you pay the pizza guy yet? order another one I say

You did the second worst thing out of your options.

He did you a favour and now you're saying 'If you want it come get it'

You should have gone in and handed it to him
