Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Right lads I am sure ye have mentioned it before, but someone who has been through the myCIC yoke can ya give me a rundown of all the stuff you needed for uploading? I have my pic resized already, my birth cert (resized) and passport both of which should be here in a day or two - according to the website it is PRINTED :) - my cv, which I need to play around with a bit - do we really need to put all when we went on holiday and the like onto the cv? Somebody said that and I thought it was weird. The garda cert, which fingers crossed will pop in in the post in the next couple days. Owt else? Apart from the parts that we can't submit yet like the conditional acceptance and the like, which obvs we are waiting on the Kompass to open for that. Cheers

Thanks for all the helpful information guys! With regards to the Police Cert, do we need to list every address we've ever lived at? I lived in Dublin for 7 years at different addresses but my home address in Kerry was always my main residence. My post was always sent to this address. Do you think they will cross reference my Resume against my Police Cert? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Saffron,

I was in the same boat, lived in a lot of different places in a short space of time. I put down all my addresses just to be on the safe side.

    Hope this helps -

Can I ask how did you go about resizing your passport photo?

I read the dimensions required (it says this on the CIC as far as I know - I have mine done from the us greencard and I'm 90% that they are the same dimesions, although obviously I'll triple check before uploading!) and if you open the pic in paint you can resize it specifically to the required size.

the us greencard one was sized 600 x 600 pixels, i think paint only allows to resize in pixels and percentage, i know the Canadian one is 35mm x 45mm not sure if they stated it in a pixel size?

im having awful trouble with my passport photo, am trying the last 3 days to get it to the correct dimensions etc? can anybody here give me any help or advice?

same boat man iam going in to my local photogropher after lunch with this printed on a page and see if he can do it.
    Digital Photo

    Dimensions:
The final frame size of the photo must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8" x 1 ¾").
The photographs must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders.
The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31 mm (1 ¼") and 36 mm (1 7/16").
Digital dimensions are often expressed in pixels or DPI (dots per inch). The physical dimensions in pixels must be at least 420 x 540

And if he can i will just get him to copy it to my usb stick:)

I tried this link http://www.idphoto4you.com/ if you have a digital photo of yourself it allows you to crop the photo to the correct size and download the image after a time limit but only problem I have when I open the photo on the laptop it looks huge, I'm just wondering whether it has to be the actual size of a passport photo or in the correct proportion.

For people having problems with the digital picture I've attached a photo that is the exact size and dimensions. :)
Obv you don't have to make it match perfectly but make it as close as you can get it. Also make sure the photo is clear.

my pic isnt too far off the requirements but isnt exact, the dpi is off but the size etc isnt too far out, do you think it would be a problem? theyd hardly refuse somebody over something small like that but i dont want to risk it at the same time....

    Hi everyone,
My husband is working as a carpenter in Saskatoon and kids and I are planning to join him this year (if I get IEC) Does anyone have any information setting up as a private childminder in Saskatoon? I am finding a lot of conflicting reports as to weather you can be self employed on the IEC Visa, Any help would be appreciated!

Conn's Cameras on Clarendon St, Dublin specialise in taking Canadian/US visa pics and guarantee that they are the right size. They charge €15 but at least you'll have them and you won't need to worry. They open late on Thursdays... I got mine done there yesterday, just for piece of mind!

when you get your full Irish convert it to UK.

i heard that that doesnt work if you havnt been driving in the UK / if its just issued to you before you go over.

if you have the full irish licence you can skip onto the equivalent of the 2nd provisional over there, so it is worth having your full licence before you go over. afaik

i think they are in the process of coming to some arrangement where you can swap a full irish for full canadian licence

  • Registered Users Posts: 5 Saffron Revolution

    Hi everyone,

regarding step 3 in the application process procedure i.e. "You do not need to sign your application form by hand if you submit your application form online. You will be asked to provide a digital signature once you are ready to transmit your documents to CIC."

What exactly do they mean by providing a digital signature, and at what stage do we need to do this. Is it not until the CIC contact us back for the 2nd stage? Regarding the digital signature itself, do they mean a scanned hard copy ?

    Thanks.

You just buy a new one every year, it’s basically a passport for your drivers license.

Stupid question, but once you have applied and (hopefully) gotten the visa, its up to yourself when you go? I'm aiming for maybe late april/early May, money and other stuff pending, the visa only activates once you're in Canada?

THe port of entry thing, what if you're not sure where you're going yet? would have to stick Toronto (the most likely place I'll go) and then wind up going to Calgary instead, would that cause major issues on entry?

Yep according to this:): (copied from website)

    Letter of Introduction

The Letter of Introduction is not your work permit – rather, it will identify you at the port of entry to Canada as being eligible to receive a work permit under IEC. As such, you must be sure to present the Letter of Introduction to a border service officer when arriving in Canada. Your Letter of Introduction will be valid for 12 months from its date of issue. The final date upon which you can present the letter at a Canadian port of entry and receive a work permit will be indicated on the letter.

Arse, better make up my mind quick so, what if you flew into Toronto, then travelled to Calgary after if you couldnt find work? would you have to apply for another work permit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,921 ✭✭✭✭hdowney

Wait the above doesn't say anything about having to enter a specific port of entry, it just states that your LOI is only valid for 12mths, as in it is up to you when you go, as long as it is within the 12mth validity of the LOI. I see nothing there about specific port of entry info

Sorry my bad, i was referring to Krudlers first paragraph : "Stupid question, but once you have applied and (hopefully) gotten the visa, its up to yourself when you go? I'm aiming for maybe late april/early May, money and other stuff pending, the visa only activates once you're in Canada?"

should have been more specific......need more coffee:D

In the application form it asks for your Work experience over the past 10 years but theres only room for 4 different employers. Will the 4 employers details suffice even thought it only spans 6 years?

read the form it says to add a supplementary sheet if required and it gives details on how to title any additional sheets

  • Registered Users Posts: 5 Saffron Revolution

Thanks ManFromCheese, but I'm not sure they were referring to job information when they spoke of adding supplementary sheets. Plus, all the information is in our CV anyway! Do you think I should list those extra jobs on a PDF and upload them as supplementary?

    Hi guys,

I'm probably being an almighty dope here but every time I try to open the IMM1295 form from the checklist page it says my adobe reader isn't upto date, even though it's the latest version. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 282 ✭✭giggii

    Apologies for the double post!!

Did the questionaire and this came up:

"You may be eligible to come to Canada through the International Experience Canada initiative.

Before applying for a work permit from CIC, you must meet the criteria to participate in the International Experience Canada initiative. Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada will issue a conditional acceptance letter if you meet the criteria. You will need this letter in order to apply for a work permit from CIC. Please note this letter is only valid for 6 months"

The 6 months thing has freaked me out a bit, does this mean that you have 6 months to fill out the rest of your application and submit it, or that you have 6 months maximum before you leave for Canada, as opposed to the 12 months after you receive the letter of introduction like you had last year...?
I'm pretty screwed if it's the latter, as I have 9 months left of my masters and therefore can't leave until October/ November at the latest... :/

    Hi Giggii,

I have the same problem with opening the IMM1295. I downloaded the most up to date version too and still wouldn't work. So I tried opening it on another computer and it worked. Sorry I can't be of any more help but that's what worked for me.

    Hi folks,

I was filling in the IMM1295 (application) form and got to where you put in your employment history. In the instruction guide, it says:

Note: If you need more space, print out an additional page of the form, complete this section and submit it with your application.

Do I now have to validate each extra page I am adding? As far as I can see I can only validate the original 4 page document. Any help/advice on this would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

Download the file locally and then open it. It's the Adobe plug in for your browser that is out of date. You are probably updating the installed version so save locally and open with it
