Help with Diet and Gym with Broken Leg..

    Hi all,

I broke my leg 2 months ago so I'm still on crutches for another month at least and at that still wont be able to do much with my leg till I build it up with physio etc..

However my physio has said I can go to the gym and do whatever I can manage.. Upper body and all the rest.

The problem is, I dunno where to start, I have been in the gym before I broke my leg, mainly running and some weights, nothing too hardcore. I'm unsure about what to do?

I'm 75kg, young adult and about 5'10/11... Not happy with the amount of boy fat I have and have put on some since being held up.

Another thing is my diet, I am very confused on what I should be eating, I'm in college so money isn't in big supply and I mainly shop in Aldi/Lidl every Sunday for the week.

I can't make much attempt at cooking seeing as I'm on crutches so I tend to put on processed chicken fillets, cupa soup, bread with tomato an meat, bit of chocolate, chicken dippers that kind of thing. Which I know isn't healthy but that's why I'm here to fix if I can.

I dunno what else I'v missed but I look forward to reply's, thank you.

Have you read the stickies here?

Your diet is a mess but you know that. The stickies give some helpful advice.

Its possible to cook on crutches.

Id suggest making large batches of soup, chilli, stews etc. These are pretty easy made, once bunged in pot can ignore for a while, can be easily frozen and used again. Ingredients to all are cheap too.

You can eat what you want and still one weight; you need to count calories. Know how many you need to maintain; eat less than that number.

Switch from cows milk to goats milk/products. It has more bone rebuilding minerals and vitamins. Cut out the junk food completely and start steaming veg such as spinnach and brocolli. Dandelion tea is also good too for bones. Switch from eating pasta and chips to rice. There is plenty of info online that can assist you on your diet.

Can your parents not help you out if you got a broken leg?

    Thanks, why change from pasta?

I'm living away from home, in college so no one can really cook and its very hard to cook proper for myself thats all.
