I was thinking about it today and wondering what people felt were the most important techniques to be a happy, productive and social. essentially awesome.

Here is a short list that I drew up of things that are important to me.

I want to see what everyone else thinks.

    1. Smile
    2. Be interested in people.
    3. Ask people about themselves.
    4. Avoid obstinate people.
    5. Where possible touch. Arms. Elbows etc.
    6. Take care of yourself before others in all but exceptional cases.
    6. A smile deports confidence, a frown worry.
    7. Don't panic
    8. If you Don't know what to do next break the steps down even to the point of getting a coffee.
    9. Use names.
    10. Quickly admit when you Don't know something. It helps you move on and learn.

    TBC......

Don't smile, it only confuses people.
    2. Be interested in people.
    People aren't interesting
    3. Ask people about themselves.
    Refer to step two.
    4. Avoid obstinate people.
    How about just avoid people?
    5. Where possible touch. Arms. Elbows etc.
Don't invade peoples private space. Probably best to just refer to step four.
    6. Take care of yourself before others in all but exceptional cases.
What a good and proper Mé Feiner attitude you have.
    6. A smile deports confidence, a frown worry.
Refer to step one, don't smile; It only confuses people.
    7. Don't panic
    Don't worry, I won't.
    8. If you Don't know what to do next break the steps down even to the point of getting a coffee.
Piss poor planning prevents proper performance. Know your shit, if you have time to go get a coffee then you have time to learn your shit.
    9. Use names.

    10. Quickly admit when you Don't know something. It helps you move on and learn.

A lady who does that to me will have her hand removed and be politely asked not to do it again. A guy who does it is running a legitimate risk of getting his fingers snapped. Decorum is one thing, invading my personal space is another thing completely.

    Seriously?

Seriously, you've never seen people touch elbows and shoulders. Women do it all the time.

When asking for someone to do something for you, the golden rule is to give value while making the request to have it done for you. It's social skills, women will often touch your arm as they ask you for a favour.

Human touch done right feels good and gives value. Test it your self, ask people for favours with and without gently touching their arm.

Where I work, the girls always do this. The hand on shoulder always coincides with the sad puppy look too.

If you want to borrow a pen, just ask. All touching me does is create an erection ffs

Develop the ability to shoot lightning bolts out of your backside. People will be hugely impressed. I've been practising for years, I've the thunder nailed but the bolts of lightning are proving elusive. I thought I had it sussed, but when I reviewed the video, it was just crap

Yea sure, you'll snap someone's fingers for being friendly.

What you consider friendly, other people could consider a violation of their person. If somebody politely asks you not to touch them and you continue to repeatedly do so, do not be surprised if you get a violent reaction, especially if you were trying to use it to dominate the other person.

Don't judge people too harshly (within reason anyway), accept that nobody is perfect and neither are you.

And every once in a while... this: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sonder
