    Cos were worth it!
Well i seemed the other three provinces had a dedicated match thread, why not us guys too!

With Parks and big George missing fear for us in this one!
I really hope Jarvis has the game of his life, lord knows he deserves it with they way he has rarely seen any consistent game time in any position.
I think if he had a run of games in a settled position he good come on leaps!

    anyways the game itself:
ref changes to Paterson (not good love to see the stats on this guys and us!)
Missing players through injury(didn't win the jersey competition, thanks Jarvis!)
We really needed our strongest possible XV going over in the right frame of mind in order to compete with the quins machine.
Not going to happen but we will use what we got and a savvy game plan could produce some sort of result.
No-one including myself gave us a chance v Biarritz in the sports ground with the amount of injuries we had going into that game and look what happened!
    We showed up!

1-15 need to show up tomorrow and keep ball in hand as much as we did against the dragons and we might just have a squeak!
Kick it away and we are doomed!

    what say you???

    ps GWAN CONNACHT!!!!

Connacht +18 is a great bet.

It's going to be a tough game for Connacht, I hope Jarvis has a good game and the kicking overall has more structure. The set piece is also very important.

Neil Paterson, really scraping the bottom of the barrel for this one.

Connacht need to cut out these knock ons

Pity we couldn't have had conditions like this last night.

if only Henshaw had given tht to Toh

Criminal from Henshaw not to use TOH there.

No fear so far and nothing kicked from hand.

Really like Andrew Browne. Think he'll have to move into the row if he wants to play for Ireland though.

3-0 to Quins but good start from Connacht.

3-0, pen for tackler holding on to man I think

Harsh penalty against Browne. Nice response from Connacht though, 3-3.

Something that is very often seen in younger, talented players. Their vision and awareness isn't nearly up to where it will eventually be. It was the same with BOD. Macken is/was a shocker for it. They might spot one pass and try that. Henshaw should have moved the ball on there again when on the 5m line. He'll get there though. The fact that he tried to release someone else at all is promising.

    6-3

Is anyone else going nuts listening to Stewart Barnes?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,883 ✭✭✭shuffol

There was at least 3 penalties in that passage by Quins and kicked the ball away at the end preventing the quick tap.

Marmions passing so far is showing why talk of him benching for Ireland is ridiculous at this stage.

    Too many knock ons :(

Passing today looks more like it did last year. Very loopy and floated. Defence is right on Jarvis when he takes it.

The ref is driving me nuts. He was shouting at JOC to release there before the tackled player had even gone to ground.

Arghh that was some serious running across the pitch from Jarvis there!

They had the numbers but he ate up their space!

Thought there were hands in that ruck from Harlequins. Connacht were unlucky to be penalised.

Some break by TOH there but good cover by Carl from Shameless.

Not often you see Evans miss one of those,.

His technique is pretty unique. :D

    Quinn's look panicky.

    O hallo ran in form

  • Harlequins Scrum is really very good. Connacht not looking great against a powerful pack.

Loads of confidence in the backline though, great to see.

Paterson really is an atrocious referee, offside doesn't seem to apply when Connacht are attacking, but different story down the other end.

  • Ugh, really dominant in the scrum.

    Penalty try.

    Quins 13 - 3 Connact (35 mins)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,207 ✭✭✭decisions

Should have been a Connacht scrum to begin with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭elguapo

Commentator: "Neil Paterson happy to award the penalty try".

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Vainikolo to run a mazy try in over 160m, mark my words.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,257 ✭✭✭Hagz

The irb are really going to have to do something about this penalty try business. It should only be a pt if a try was definitely going to be scored.

not if the ball was held up over the line.

5 inches the other way and it would have been a Conn scrum.

    Harsh margins.

Harsh penalty against Browne. Nice response from Connacht though, 3-3.
He never released player properly before challenging for ball.
Discipline faltering under Harlequins pressure. They need to stay within 6 at half-time to have a chance.

  • Great tackle from Swifty there to earn the turnover

Marmion is doing a good job of winding up Danny Care at scrum time, anything to make him lose his **** is always welcome.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

Connacht on the ropes. Every time Quins get clean ball they're making 30m. Their error level and Connacht's scramble is keeping the score from racking up.

Harlequins should pull clear now but this game once again shows that Harlequins are most certainly not genuine contenders to win the Heineken Cup at least this year. If Clermont got the chances we've got in the first half the game would be over already.

Paterson driving me nuts, one of the worst refs in the Pro12, never mind the HEC...

    score?

  • oh **** off Patterson.

You call that you best call all of them

He did release. Do players really need to raise their hands in the air to signify that they released from the tackle?

Yep. I reckon Care will snap too.
Hopefully he is also pinged for crooked feed to scrum as Marmion has just been.

  • Patterson hands 3 points to Quins. Horrendous.

    Jesus wept ref...

I can't remember the last time I saw a ball go into a scrum straight ffs.

I believe the currently accepted best practice to leave no doubt is to walk over and shake the refs hand and and then return to the ball.

In a tackle like that, yes. Player wasn't released.

Looks like the game is getting away from Connacht. That's quite a deficit to haul back.
