Thought I'd start a thread in relation to transfers that may effect the game in January.

So far, a few of the big ones have been Ba to Chelsea, Debuchy to Newcastle and Nelsen leaving QPR.

A bit of news today also:

    1. Collocini wants to leave Newcastle.
    2. Stephen Kelly is on his way to Reading.

N'Diaye has joined Sunderland. Player in the mould of Mulumbu at West Brom, not a great FF prospect but thought I'd mention him anyway.

Sunderland are also in the process of signing Kader Mangane. This may be one worth keeping on eye on with regard to FF. 6 foot 5 central defender who chips in from set pieces. With Sunderland's decent run coming up it'll be interesting to see what he is priced at.

Martin Olsson to West Ham looks like a strong possibility. Allardyce has stated numerous times that he's looking for another full back.

This could damage Joey O'Briens long terms prospects. Possibly Demels too.

Wellington Paulista has joined West Ham. 6 month loan.

Nuri Sahin has left Liverpool (that went well)

Ross Barkley gone from Everton to Leeds on loan.

I'm keeping an eye on the Martin Olsson story. As a Blackburn fan, I'm praying he doesn't leave but he's a great FF player if he does.

He gets forward alot and has an eye for goal. The West Ham defence started out well but now hasn't kept a clean sheet in 11 but he could be a great asset if it tightened up again.

Allardyce used to often use Olsson in a position further up the pitch on the left side of midfield as well.

Loic Remy is heading to Newcastle:

Some may have to forget about Cisse now.

This guys stats are fairly underwhelming, it'll be interesting to see if he develops a geordie accent after a couple of weeks though a-la his current teammate Joey Barton.

Yep but you have to wonder how it'll effect Cisse. I know a good few on here were expecting Cisse to be the main man at Newcastle but that may not happen now.

Of course, he could compliment Cisse. His goal scoring stats may be underwhelming but quite a few teams were after this lad so I'd imagine he must be a good playmaker or something.

EDit: just had a look at his stats there. They aren't that bad. 26 goals in 68 games for Nice. 27 goals in 68 games for Marseille. That's 53 goals in 136 games. A goal every 2.5 games isn't that bad.

He'll probably play on the wings with Cisse up top .

I'll be keeping a good eye on whoever Harry Redknapp brings in to lead the line at QPR, I know he was keen on Remy but not sure if it was as a number 9. I'm sure Harry will feel that if they are to stay up they will need a goalscorer and whoever comes in will be expected to and given the chance to do just that. I have Fletcher as my final Striker at the moment, he's got a great run of fixtures coming up but I never expect much from him, Taarabt will also benefit from having a proper striker to play with.

Yanga Mbiwa is the one to watch lads. He's a fantastic player and I'm suprised he's signed for Newcastle. He's good on the ball, and he's physically good in the air. Can spot a pass aswel. A key part of Montpellier winning the league last season with Giroud.

He can play full back and centre back but I would assume he's going to be played at centre back straight away.

great news for all us aguero tevez dzeko owners. Mancini might be thinking of playing yaya off a front man in some games aswell seen as hes down to 3 strikers.

qpr have signed korean defender Yun su young presumably to replace Ryan not so young Nelsen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Looks like Robinson to West Ham. Jussi out...? Could affect a few people.

And Samba to QPR, imagine there's little value there.

Urby Emanuelson to Fulham. I'm guessing as a replacement for Riise who has been marginalised a bit. Similar player to Riise of old, left-back who excels as an attacking wing-back/winger. If he's down in defense and will play further forward could be another good full-back option. If he goes in at 5.0 I'll definitely take a look. 5.5 or higher and he'd have to come out of the blocks flying.

Everton talking to Sevilla about taking Negredo. Would be a very interesting FF possibility if it goes ahead.

yun suk young plays lb, got a cannon of a shot. probably someone else will fill the cb position, like onuoha, or samba if qpr get him.

qpr d is at least worth monitoring, they seem to have become draw specialists, esp. good at choking out the big teams.

Talk of Jack Butland going to Stoke. Could Begovic be moving on?

I'm not so sure...QPR are tightening up, and if memory serves correctly he was good for bonus points at Blackburn. One to watch I think.

Definitely. Plus he's quite good in the air from set pieces. Scored 18 goals for Blackburn over 5 seasons. Baines only has 21 for everton in the same period.

Good for bonus points and goals or assists as well. Big Sam even threw him up front when Rovers were chasing the odd game.

is jack butland due to sign for stoke likely to effect begovic? i woulda thought begovic is undroppable but butland turned down chelsea because he didn't think he'd get much games.

I'm assuming what's happened is Butland has been told begovic will be moving onto a bigger club in the summer and he'll be number 1 then but is there any chance of him taking gametime off begovic before then? why not just sign him in the summer if he's going to be on the bench for 5 months? or even loan him back if they don't plan to use him? i realise i'm having a conversation with myself now, i'm just thinking out loud as i type.

EDIT: Nevermind, he's being loaned back to them until the end of the season.

Left back Monreal heading to Arsenal from Malaga, should be done by tonight. Very good player, I think better than Gibbs and will mean the end of Santos for us thankfully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Emanuelson listed as a midfielder not defender, not interested anymore.

Coutinho in at 6.5, Becchio 5.5, both worth keeping an eye on.

Enoh is 5.0 but won't get too many points I guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭Santi101

Seems like too much for Becchio IMO, dont see him doing a whole lot in this division.
