Shay Given is my favourite and I'm sad to see him not getting any games. Perhaps a drop down a division is best for him in order to play some games in the twilight of his career.

Of the current crop who are getting games, I'm a big fan of Lloris. I also think Begovic has good potential to make it at a bigger club.

But if i had to pick a keeper now i'd go for Begovic or Hart. Not many top class keepers in the league really

Al Habsi. A good 'keeper and comes across as a nice guy as well.

Brad Friedel, a great keeper and a really nice guy.

    Schmeichel

    /thread.

Prob Lloris. I just think him in goal gives Spurs some prestige. Was a big fan of Cudicini about 10 years ago, just loved him. Given as well from about 98-2005. VDS when he was with Fulham and of course Tim Howard(USA USA)

I thought he meant current goalkeepers.

Because the thread title is not "who has been the best goalkeeper in the Premiership"

Fridel for me. Looks like he could do another 3-5 years at this level.

Begovic is probably best in the league at the moment for me.

Theres this big guy from the Czech Republic who wears a skull cap, quite the goalkeeper for quite the amount of time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,258 ✭✭✭MUSEIST

Cech- massively under rated since the skull fracture but time and time again he saves chelsea. Along with drogba he probably played the biggest role in chelsea being kings of europe last season.

I'd say Schmeichel as the best, Cech was awesome in the two Mourinho title winning seasons though, he's not quite as good as he was now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,563 ✭✭✭dd972

Tim Flowers was good in Blackburn's Premiership winning season as well

Of the current crop, I rate Begovic very highly but if I was picking a team for a champions league final tomorrow then it would have to be Cech.

It has to be either David de Gea or Hugo Lloris.

Reina would be my first choice. He may not seem as reliable as he has been previous years but I think that will return. Genuine nice bloke too who seems up for a laugh.

Begovic (sp?) is another keeper I like, so worth a mention.

Brad jones too deserves a mention, lovely guy who despite being under Reinas shadow, still can provide decent cover.

Definitely not the best but for total insanity entertainment it has to be Lehmann.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,365 ✭✭✭batistuta9

    past - Schmeichel

    present - Jääskeläinen

& of the newer ones - Vorm

honorable mention - Martin Fulop, butterhandedly responsible for Arsenal finishing 3rd last season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,951 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Lloris is the best. I like Szczesny though.
