Take a look at my keto meal plan

    Story lads :-)

First question is first, how's my very first attempt at a keto meal plan?

Second - Am I better off just aiming to eat healthier while consuming more protein or should I just try keto first? Is it worth the effort of avoiding carbs? Doing this to lose the excess fat.

I've been just making the effort to eat healthy again since new years and I've dropped something like 5lbs. I know that's both a mixture of the reduced calories and not weighing myself properly first day, but it still means I've dropped something.

    Hi Danger

Im following the paleo way of eating and for the first few months i was low card paleo so i would have been in ketosis

Ketosis worked really well for me, in my opinion is a great jumping off point to lose weight and get healthy and once you can kick the sugar cravings and cut it out of your life you will feel so much better.

One thing i would change if i were you is to sub the panda peanut butter with a no added sugar almond or other nut butter from the health shop cus panda is full of sugar and will just give u insulin spikes and hinder your progress :)

    Good luck :)

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I haven't really done much research into Paleo as of yet, other than reading up on it. That might yet be an alternative for me rather than full blown keto.

So have I got the right idea?

Has anyone tried Dave Palumbos keto diet? His seems to have primarily protein as the main chunk of the diet. However everything I read seems to emphasise the 4:1 ratio of fat. I'm not liking the idea of adding either cream or oil to things just for the sake of increasing fat. His one seems far more clean.

Edit: My main concern - Just because I'm losing weight, doesn't mean I'm healthy. I could lose the extra fat but have arteries clogged to hell. Would something like carb cycling be better? Or just go on a normal healthy eating diet?

Have you worked out what your macros are on that diet?

What do you mean exactly? Does the above screenshot not show this?

Actually it does yeh. I see the chart now on the bottom right.

That looks good for Keto. I saw a post here recently and I think it said that 50/40/10 (f/p/c) was good for ketois and yours is 67/26/6 ish

    Edit: I was off. It's 55/40/5
Need to balance the carbs/fat thing properly.

    If you can get to

    55% Fat
    40% Protein
    5% carbs

You will see the bodyfat melt off of you.

However that's a really tough goal to get too. Instead I'd aim for a 50/40/10 split.

You need to be eating good fats (oils, fish, eggs, avacados) galore. 'Teach' your body to use fat as its fuel and not carbohydrates.

Eggs with yellow! You need the fat in there, you lose most of the nutrients by avoiding them yellowy globes of beauty too!

Ah okay cool so I can actually reduce fat a small bit then :-) I need to make out a proper meal plan but I really struggle to decide what to eat.. Its pretty limited

You are only taking in 5g of fibre! Constipation central!

Yeah I haven't started yet - Need to fine tune everything before making a completely commitment. What would you recommend? Would the fact that I drink coffee help? :P

Also none of the above foods were weighed.. It's me just guesstimating :)

I found when in keto that not having much fibre was really, ahem, apparent.

I supplemented with Psyllium Husks in my Protein Shakes.

    Yeah so I've heard. :p

I'm going to have to throw in Flax seeds or something, or like you said supplement.

Swap Kelkin peanut butter for panda. Tastes the same and there is no added sugar. Personally I don't like the taste of almond butter even though I know it's the best
