Any body know what kind of people linger here,I tend to think male, unemployed or students but then someone mentions cats and it gets a huge response,it's like there's an army of cat lovers ready to go when the c word gets mentioned.I know the atheists are trying to climb the barricades but of course no one cares,it seems like an odd mix overall.

Why is that? Seems like a strange conclusion to come to.

I'm female, employed, and prefer dogs, so I don't really fit your description!

But what percentage of AH are similar to you is there any way to know exactly what the demographic of AH is, I am female and middle aged and I like both cats and dogs.

White, male, aged 21-28, comes from a middle-class background, student or starting out in their careers, considers themselves a libertarian but also has some mildly conservative and sometimes racist views, atheist, owns a smart phone and uses it predominantly for Facebook and to prove their friends wrong in an argument.

They are supposed to be super intelligent but I think they have only been contributing since the availability of touch screens.

It's the bulletin board equivalent of the second series of American Horror Story, with something for all the family, especially the one member locked in the attic who no-one talks about.

Middle aged bloke, employed, like cats, but prefer dogs, strong agnostic but find yer adolescent minded atheists just as irritating as theists and in some areas I'm a "peace out maaaan" left winger hippie, in others I'm a "I'd put them in camps Joe" right wing fascist.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

But how do you know that... from the information they give when they join, that could be complete rubbish!

Something interesting when I am having a back and forth argument with someone just from the tone of what they were saying you could make an educated guess of what they are like age background etc.

There is some feminist writer cant think of her name now, who thinks the anonymity of the INTERNET will free woman from being judged as woman are normally judged ( looks /age and so on ) and therefore what they say will be just be judged on the content....thats why you occasionally see female users taking typical male or neutral user names...it usually nonsense though as you can generally tell if someone if someone is female/male by reading the posts...

It's from Only Fools and Horses.

Roy Slater says it. I guess in the early eighties they weren't called hearing aids!

Definitely not many unemployed. Have you the read the crap here about welfare scroungers?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Male
    21-26
Full time business and technical consultant and client support

AH provides the evidence of a society regressing into an isolated " I want to live in my bubble", and utter nievity of the real world, which fascinates me

    Ah, plenty do.

Smugness towards atheists in general is as bad as smugness towards religious people in general. Very weird using "atheist" and "liberal" as perjoratives too.

People here who use critical thinking and don't see everything in black and white terms get referred to as "loony lefties" or whatever but they're obviously just people who are sensible and fair and put thought into stuff. There are a few ridiculously politically correct folks all right who find offence in pretty much everything, but the former are deemed the same as them, and they're really not.
