I didn't know you could get STI's from oral sex. Call me stupid but if i was never told so how could I know.

In fact I was not taught anything about STI's, Everything I know is from embarrassing bodies.

    Stupid.

No, seriously no need to worry you can't get it from anal sex anyway so come over here to me with your bum.

I thought you do get taught it at school. We had a few sex ed classes anyway.

Also if you're having sex have some cop on and responsibility to look up about sexual health yourself instead of shifting the blame completely onto what you should've been told at school.

Sex education could be a lot better but that's not exactly a fool-proof excuse for not knowing something quite basic.

Get yourself checked and do some reading or you're running the risk of your cock falling off at some point. All the info you need is easy to find, educate yourself.

Do you never just read something for interest's sake or does it have to be spoon fed to you? I'm pretty sure any literature about STDs will tell you about the oral risk. I just pray I never get gonorrhea of the eye...

I actually went to an STI clinic today and as i was sitting there waiting to be called, I noticed all the girls in the waiting room, some very nice looking and you just knew they all had more than their fair share of sausage in their time .
I thought to myself, "I wish my girlfriend was as dirty as some of these girls". Then I remembered she was and that's why I was there.

We were taught you could catch aids from kissing.
Now while it is technically possible, I think they should have included the incredible amount of saliva that would have to be passed.

    You're very judgemental.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It's actually impossible. The only chance it could be contacted is if both people had an open, bleeding wound in their mouth and they were fairly full on at it

I don't know if it's still the case but the sex ed curriculum used to be fairly open ended to accommodate religious sensibilities, depends on where and when you went to school as to how good an education you got, all I got was wrap your mickey OR ELSE! Considering most of my sex hasn't involved a mickey it wasn't the most relevant of educations...

I see what you did there. :pac:

OP there are some things that even school can't teach you, yknow, common sense things and the like.

And I wouldn't use a shìte show like embarrassing bodies as the basis for your sexual education either. Go and learn the facts without all the "shock, horror" nonsense, or even go have a friendly chat with your GP. Whatever you do, don't take anything you read on the internet at face value!

The same as if you were kissing and naked, both schmutchers were bleeding on their feet it could be transfarred, open cuts could inable the virus to be transfarred,

someone slaps a person on the shoulder with an open cut, the person had an open cut on their shoulder, transfare has happened, blood to blood is the biggest probability of transfare, (two open cuts)

If I don't know what transfarred means, does that still mean I can get it? Ditto for inable. I am inable to understarnded what a schmutcher is as well.

If you take sexual safety advice from the internet, pop on your "well dodgy stuff coming atcha" filter first. If you don't know where it's been, don't put your naked bits in it, is about as good as it gets.

And therein you have just nailed the issue- the curriculum can only cover so much. Even the stay safe program kids are learning in schools nowadays has to be appropriate for the maturity of the class, so kids in infants learn about stranger danger, etc, while kids in sixth class have discussions about contraception and protection.

You cannot expect a teacher to get bogged down in the minutae of every single STI known to man (or woman!), you cannot expect that they would get bogged down in the individual potential and hypothetical circumstances of each and every one of their students.

Not by saliva, an open wound would be a blood transfer of the disease.

Not really, I've seen excellent graphics covering all anyone needs to know on barrier protection condensed to an A3 poster, it's the same bits for everyone, safe sex isn't that complicated, getting prudes under religous patronage to discuss the topic frankly and relevantly is an ongoing struggle though.

I am delighted to see you dont suffer from it, if I was to listen to you or Potter, I would never reply, because I know my words do not make sense sometimes,

I never said it was a TIS, I was trying to explain why I am shiit at spelling.

Hmm, the whole "religious patronage" thing is (or should be!) a bit of a misnomer in all fairness.

I attended a CBS secondary education where in religion class we discussed issues like sexuality, contraception, abortion, taught by a lay person granted, but quite literally nothing was off limits for discussion. This was over 20 years ago. The one's who were actually prudish about it were the likes of little johnny down the back of the class because the teacher mentioned the words "breast" or "testicle", they'd break out in fits of giggles and interrupt the whole class!

Again I reiterate the point that not everything about sexuality could be covered by the curriculum, but I don't think teachers, nor religious ethos can be blamed for the lack of education about sexuality in society. Parents too have to take some of the blame, not to mention people who have no sense of personal responsibility that they could go off and do their homework themselves and in much the same way I did- read outside the curriculum and not just be dependent on the school to teach you what should for most people be a matter of common sense.

Don't be so hard ;) It depends in what era you went to school in. As a child of the 70's and 80's there was next to non-existent sex ed in my schools. We were taught how babies were conceived, that was it.

The rest about infections, diseases etc were taught from word of mouth excuse the pun and thats kids gossiping about it. This was well before widespread available books and the internet. The TV helped a bit during the AIDS epidemic but the TV was censored too back then, info was very scarce.

Our 'sex ed' mainly consisted of hearing about how ineffective condoms were. We were also given a prayer that asked God to bless your future wife and hope that she kept herself 'pure' for you.

Before anyone asks, I did the LC in 2002 not the 60's.
