Lens-Whacking and other dirty secrets

I saw the filmriot episode on lenswhacking the other week.

It is where you take the lens off your dslr and hold it close to the camera and you get a jiggly sort of camera effect. Quite novel.

The macro focus range is about 12 inches on my 50mm lens. But if I lens whack, I can get right up close to an object and get it in focus while the background is way, way blown out. Crazy narrow depth of field and I dont have to be 12 inches away from an object.

My wife was messing around tonight and she did the lens-whack while turning the lens backwards and got a zoom like effect. Interesting.

Anyone got any other tips or tricks?
