Can you recommend a few web design sites or blogs I should read or keep an eye on, in the vein of Lifehacker? I've little technical knowledge..

Is this just to learn some web design? You can check out the W3Schools website, very good. Or an excellent way to learn is by videos, check out "TheNewBoston" on YouTube, has some amazing tutorials, look for his HTML/CSS tutorials.

Well I can honestly say I've never ever looked at Lifehacker with regards to web design.

I'm not sure if I know any web design blogs without technical knowledge... (They're cowboys Ted! A bunch of cowboys!)
