    Hi guys

New year and all that so I said id ask here for your opinion on my diet. About to start pre season training so in the gym or running most days as well.

Breakfast: 4 weetabix and a poached egg on brown bread
Mid morning: Youghart or some fruit
Lunch: potatoes, veg, and either salmon or chicken. If not this than a salad
    Afternoon: some more fruit
Dinner: If I have a salad earlier I would have potatoes and chicken and veg or pasta in evening or else just have a poached egg with tuna/sweetcorn

Also drink 2-3 litres of water during the day

Let me know if im missing out on anything or anything I should get rid of.

    Cheers

IMHO while it is not the worst I have seen, it does not really appear that great either.

You don't give any real idea of portion sizes, bit it appears to me to consist of lots of carbs and little enough in the way of protein or healthy fats.

This is just my 2 cents and I am far from an expert.

it can depend on what your goals are, but generally speaking I'd say

cut back on the weetabix a bit, breakfast is a bit too carb heavy.
be careful not to eat too much fruit, as healthy as it is can contain a fair bit of sugar.
try increase your "good fats" a bit, nuts (in moderation) are generally a good source, and can up your protein a bit too

thanks for the replies. Would porridge be a better breakfast than weetabix..less carbs?

My understanding is that they are better carbs...

Porridge is a complex carb - energy released over a longer period of time
wheatabix is more simple carb - energy released over short period of time

GI is kinda useless unless you intend to eat products on their own and in a fasted state.

Not really, both are complex carbs and nutritionally very similar. In a gram for gram basis.
The differences comes from how they are prepared imo. Water vrs milk. Or weetabix covered with sugar etc. Oats also swell more so a 30g serving tends to go further.
