The bikini bar is damn effective.

Cause its readers are not the kind to dwell on subtelties?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,420 ✭✭✭Lollipops23

I treat it like Fox News- it's entertaining to look at but also terrifying that so many take it so seriously.

    Helen Flanagan seems nice.

Why is the Daily Mail so bad?

Because it's aimed at right-wing idiots.

highest traffic news agency website in the world.

They've always been right wing, they did champion hitler after all. but now they do it without any principles whatsoever. Lambasting all and sundry, especially whom ever are their target minority (was us, now the muslims) about the decay of morals in society and then they post homophobic articles and links to celebs in bikinis.

Apparently absolutely ruthless to work for too.

to be fair to them they always post a decent amount of pictures....

They manage to get the same shot of a person at every possible angle

I had a look at that "All grown up" term into the search bar.

    Pedorrific.

I like browsing the celeb goss sometimes, and you know how it is, you get stuck there for ages, I'm still stuck there thanks to this thread. It's funny reading the comments of women readers being bitchy about celebrities bodies too.

Also "The Daily Fail" and "The Daily Wail".

Couldn't believe the "BBC Channel 4" bit. They really do take any opportunity to lambast and villanize the BBC. Their lazy journalism and this ridiculous article are pathetic. It's no wonder that they are the most hated newspaper in Britain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,914 ✭✭✭✭Penn

I look at their site every day because I need to know what Rose McGowan looks like coming out of the gym and if Alyson Hannigan still spends time with her daughters. That news is vital.

How do you come to that conclusion? It's one of the most popular newspapers in the country and has been for 10 years... second only to the Sun.

Why is the Daily Mail so bad?
    Honestly?

The simple answer is: ...Because people keep buying it.

How do you come to that conclusion? It's one of the most popular newspapers in the country and has been for 10 years... second only to the Sun.

as its read by a hated section of society in Britain - bigoted government artist bottom feeders, lowest common denominator stuff

I remember the first time I ever saw the Mail was in England in 1996 around the time an IRA ceasefire has been broken and my jaw dropped at the overt anti Irish stuff contained within - apart from all its other deficiencies. Its ironic in the extreme that it has an 'Irish' version these days given its history, I dare say if people here knew how bad it was in the past they wouldnt contemplate spending money on it.

I saw a copy of it in the mothers house a while back and I asked her what she was playing at reading it, she said because the price was cheap. I said if thats what her benchmark was for newspaper critique she'd be as well off buying none and I threw it in the bin and got her an IT subscription for her next birthday

I cant speak lowly enough of the Mail and its ethos and organisation, Ive lost all respect for a number of Irish commentators who've taken up work with them, no one should need to compromise themselves so much.

I wouldnt wipe the dogs a*se with a Mail title.

It is but there is no denying that it resorts to lazy journalism a lot and as a result of some of its controversial or ridiculous articles, it has gained a bad reputation among many people and has provoked people to hate it.

This is one of the more recent examples of pathetically lazy and ludicrous articles :

It's a complete rag, but what you say isn't true. The main demographic of its readership are middle class, middle aged women.

The target demographic or the readership demographic? The thing is littered with pieces straight out of Heat magazine so its not surprising but they are playing to a wider gallery than that

if it wasn't for the Mail, how else would we know that Muslim single mothers are illegally entering the UK and becoming benefit cheats.

    Helen Flanagan seems nice.

She's so incredibly dim, egocentric and child-like she's totally unattractive in my view.

People like to be told that complex social and political issues and inequalities are caused by foreigners and poor people.

how else would we know how the Royal baby and that Kardashian baby will look like without their regenerated photos ..
We also get those wonderful photos of Royal impersonators celebrating Christmas with their hands stuck up the turkeys arse.

Seems like they give the people what they want. The question should be:

Why are the people inhabiting modern society so bad?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,736 ✭✭✭Irish Guitarist

They have a nerve to complain about comedians making jokes about celebrities. Anytime a celebrity wears a pair of shoes that doesn't go with the rest of their outfit it ends up in the Daily Mail.

The only reason I know this by the way is that anytime I do a Google search for Carol Vorderman I find loads of Dail Mail articles. They're obsessed with her, but not in the same way as I am.

In fairness the comic and puzzle sections are second to none.

How do you confuse a Daily Mail reader? Tell them asylum seekers are the natural prey of paedophiles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,798 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

Supply and demand I'm afraid. The Daily Mail couldn't exist without its hordes of unbelievable eejits willing to actually read it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,362 ✭✭✭Sergeant

It entertains its target market and generates lots of anger and faux-outrage from its opponents. Both of them read it, and it makes money as a result.

Irish Sunday Mail is actually ok. It revealed the Ivor Callely and O'Donoghue expense scandals unlike some of the other papers who were scratching there holes. The English Mail is schocking tripe.

More people read the Daily Mail than read the Guardian. By an order of magnitude at least.

They also have the most viewed news website in the world.

    Isn't "BBC's Channel 4" a reference to BBC 4? Maybe I'm wrong.

In that article they meant Channel 4 not BBC 4. The Big Fat Quiz of 2012 was shown on Channel 4.

    All newspapers are bad.

You'd realise that when you give up reading newspapers for a week.
If you haven't done that, then you won't know until you do!

COULD FOXES STEAL THE IDENTITY OF THE MIDDLE CLASS?

Not sure what it means but I am outraged.

COULD CANCER GIVE TAXPAYERS' MONEY CANCER?

WILL THE FRENCH HAVE SEX WITH PENSIONERS?
