What resolutions are you going to make?

I'm going to stop smoking again and loose some weight.

I have vowed not to make any resolutions this year which saves the inevitable disappointment when they get broken before the end of January.

I am going to attack the job hunt with renewed vigour in January, kind of lost my focus before Christmas but...this is the Year I rejoin the workforce!!

    I hope!

To be a little bit more organised would be lovely, but the big resolution is to loose weight and get fit. I've four - five stone to loose so it'll take a lot of work, but it will be worth it.

I usually never make New Years Resolutions but this year I think I might. Last/this year has been rubbish and need to change things round big time. Job, place to live etc etc.

Started exercising regularly about 2 months ago so I'm just going to keep that up.

I don't make resolutions as such, I tend to list three or four things that I want to do or get done before the year is out.

Stop smoking, cut back the drinking and eat a bit healthier.

    The same as last year.
    And the year before that...

To push myself to the level that I should of been at two years ago and to leave everything in the past where it belongs and move on.

AH answer: expand my fruit and veg stall and stop phil and jay bullying me.

    2013 is my year: FACT

My main one though is to sort myself out, start looking after myself and stop letting people push me around.

    Hi, Buzz Killington here.

New Year's Resolutions are a bad way of changing your life around. Deferring making a change until an arbitrary point in the future makes them harder to get round to doing, and harder to stick to if you do get around to doing them.

If you want to make an effective change of routine, get straight at it and stick to it. It's not easy, but it works.
For example: about 18 months ago I wanted to lose weight and get fit, so I started exercising and losing weight. I've continued to exercise regularly since then and am now svelte and very fit.

    Happy New Year everybody!

January in the gym is a nightmare. Waiting 20 min for fat women to finish their walk. Why would you get a gym membership to walk on a treadmill?

What would they have to do for you not to complain? Maybe they want to lose weight, and need to build up to jogging. Maybe they can't walk for 20 minutes around where they live. I used to go jogging in the gym, much better than trying to do it around where I live - people in the way, differing terrains, having to cross the road with heavy traffic, trying to come up with a route etc.

I never make them because you're going to break them, feel bad about them and then put whatever you were supposed to give up / do will be put on the back burner.

Anyways, my TV won't let me go any higher resolution than 1920x1080.....

I don't imagine too many people will misspell 'it'.

Everybody has to start somewhere you know.
They could have a heart condition and gradually have to build up their exercise tolerance.
Or, they may be rehabbing an injury.
Or they could be overweight and have decided to do something about it. It could be their first time in a gym and walking on a treadmill in a gym, where they are probably very self conscious about how they look to others is a big achievement to them.

Go earlier/later in the day if it bothers you that much.

Because I've been ill for over a year, the steroids made me put on a shed load of weight and if I run on the treadmill I'll pass out and you'll have to wait even longer while some poor gym attendant scrapes me off the floor.

But don't worry I promise to go really slow on the cross trainer and the bicycle as well - just so that you don't feel my gym membership is wasted.

Exactly, the gym is a 'safe' environment if you have some sort of an injury and it definitely beats collapsing at the side of the road if your leg suddenly goes out on you. At least in the gym you will get advice and encouragement, and someone to lift you off the floor.

Why don't YOU do your running outside?

    New year Resolutions-

Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a ****ing big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of ****ing fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing sprit- crushing game shows, stuffing ****ing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, ****ed-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?
