Which Protein supplement is best?

There is no "best" protein really.

There are some really high quality proteins out there but unless you're an elite athlete, there's no need for them.

Look at the number of grams of protein 100g, if its 70g or better & if the price is reasonable & you can stand the taste, you're golden.

I like the myprotein impact whey.
    I get the 2.5kg bags.
Banana & mint choc are my favorite flavours.

I'd stay away from maxi muscle for the simple reason that its way overpriced for what you get.

I always get ON Gold Standard, it has a good protein / calories ratio compared to some other supplements ive looked at.

Double Rich chocolate is nice, i thought the banana one was manky, very artificial flavour, the choc mint one is nice too, I'm just not mad about mint.

Also try to consume roughly 2 grams of protein per kg of body weight, for example if you weight 70kg then two ON Gold Standard shakes would only provide 35% of the protein you should be consuming per day (24g per scoop)

So its worth introducing fish, egg whites, chicken and other lean meats into your diet.

Right so ive still been looking and ive found Kinetcica: http://www.fitnessireland.ie/kinetica-whey-protein-2-27kg.html. Any Expierence?
This along with the The my protein Impact Whey seem to be the best option. Gold standard is very strong @ 80% protein but it is very expensive.

Well maximuscle is grossly over priced.
A poster on reddit did tests on several protein brands and almost all where under dosed. While this is only one persons testing on a small sample size, it does not surprise me at all.
Here is a spread sheet of the results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ag9uT-E4EIL7dFZPZnR0WVZybGtFWnRKNzdKNm9XOVE#gid=0

It is pretty hard for chicken and eggs to be under dosed.

ok i ordered kinetica whey 4.5kg from discount supplements on the 26th of this month and had it mid day the 28th ,thats a pretty good turnaround it doesent mix as good as the nutrition x stuff but it works out cheaper ,a word of warning if you decide to go for the nutritonx whey is that they are selling 2.25kg on their site but send you 1.8kg and wont refund the difference thats my 2 cents

His method is not how a proper nitrogen test is done. Also they sent him power in jiffy bags. I wouldn't trust any of those results.

I'd second this advice. No need to go for the expensive pure isolate, top of the range protein. Get something that tastes nice, get some samples from your local shop and try get one that's cheap and that you enjoy.

    Hey Everyone

Having been someone who has spent last 17 years in the industry and having tried most supplements out there I would strongly advise you against wasting your money on any whey based products. I used to spend €140/wk on typical sports nutrition supplements but now I only use wholefood based supplements which are more expensive but are so because they are real food.

Also it is lies about how much protein we are told we need which is just used in the marketing methods. Again I used to be guzzling protein every day but the more educated I have become and the more I have researched and experimented on my own body the more I have come to realise what lies are in the supplement industry.

Supplements are certainly beneficial depending on what your nutrition is and what your training routine is like but be careful investing your hard earned money.

Stay away from Whey. It used to be discarded until someone got the billion dollar brainwave to create supplements with it. It is very damaging to your body.

Sun warrior is the best shop bought supplement in Ireland to get or any plant based protein.

    hope that helps
    To Your Success

Is this YouTube sensation Dave Sheahan?

Have you anything to back up your claims to stay away from whey?
(A byproduct of cheesemaking, which would make it a whole food in my book)

I agree with the premise that we should eat as much food as possible, and that a supplement is just that, to make up for a deficiency in a diet or to plug a gap due to a busy lifestyle etc.

I used to be one of the biggest supplement whores around, now I only supplement with fish oils, multivitamins & whey.

Glad to hear that you like me have dramatically decreased your supplement expenditure. All about education.
    Check out books such as

    The China Study
    Diet For New America

They contain alot of great information on Whey and dairy in general. I have held many webinars and created videos etc on the subject too. I don't think I am allowed to post links in forums so if interested in checking any of them out send me a personal message. As said in my first post I used to guzzle dairy due to supposedly being a bodybuilding "must have". How wrong I was. Dairy is a major contributor to most diseases and ailments in the world today so I urge everyone who reads this to at least decrease dairy consumption and whey supplement consumption too.

Dont expect anyone to change overnight. Do your own research into it. Never just take someone's opinion as gospel.

All anyone needs is a good
    EFA supplement
    multivitamin
meal replacement/post training recovery shake should they wish for both convenience and it does accelerate results if consumed immediately after workout
