Was he machine gunned or was it a harpoon or anything? Assuming this is gang related.

Can the Mod merge with previous thread?

Cops seem to be reduced to redundant bystanders at this stage .

I would like to know more about the ins and outs, was it someone who was innocent or someone who lived the life?

The cops warn them that their life is in danger - what more can they do.

its tit for tat at the moment

Dont get me wrong i agree with you. The whole legal framework accommodates the criminals. The cops can do little to prevent things from happening

    Another shooting?

Isn't it time we banned guns in this country.

Maybe, just maybe, they could take the fookers off the street so no innocent person gets their life taken away, effecting so many more innocent people, would this be to much to ask them to do?

I know who might kill you, but if they have a bad day it could be anybody, but lets just wait to see what happens.

Little known at the moment. We can only really speculate but i would bet that its related to this rift between the RIRA and the drugs gangs that has really opened up since Alan Ryan was killed. Love/Hate is freakishly parallel with the occurrences of reality

Very true. Is it a case of smaller boats meeting bigger boats out at sea and bringing them into various parts of the various coastlines I wonder? I also dont like to question the morals of the people who protect our borders but you would have to wonder is there enough of them in enough locations perhaps?

I feel sorry for the A&E in St. James.

Before anyone gets a high kick in their heel, the nurses and doctors are just doing their jobs, how must they feel?

It must be awful at Christmas time to be dealing with this.....

It's a son or daughter of a mam or dad.

    It is Christmas.

    Just a thought.

Who cares about lives when a bit of money can be made off the people who may have bought some clothes or electrical goods on their trip to New York.

They took .22's and double barrel shotguns, criminals use pistols etc now... they have better hardware than .22s and shotguns. They recovered a load of them a few weeks later anyway.

I agree - the only answer is to offer firearms training to the drug dealers.

Ah but would arms shops really stock AK's and Glocks though?? Perhaps im too naive and sheltered and not knowledgeable about this now but surely to god no shop in this country would stock such dangerous ammunition?

Ireland is an island. I'm sure its pretty easy to smuggle guns in. And everything else.

To be fair your right these people probably do live double lives. There is a the loving family man/woman on one hand and on the other there is the vicious brutal killer

Criminals don't go into a gunshop and put down a deposit then toddle off to their local Garda station and apply for a license you know.

Banning legally held firearms will only serve to annoy those of us who like to hunt and shoot, there are over 230,000 legally held firearms in Ireland.

Criminals use unlicensed illegally held firearms, they don't respect the law, I'm guessing here but I believe that's why they're criminals.

You could remove every single legal firearm in this country and I guarantee you that criminals would still be shooting each other. They smuggle in millions upon millions of illegal goods and drugs each year, do you believe that throwing a few handguns into a box would be a big deal?

Added to the fact there isnt a bean left to patrol the borders better and even during the better economic times this was still an issue

Its quite easy to smuggle weapons into this country by sea. Other weapons come from various burglaries.

Guns cant be banned there is too many out there already, there should be a mandatory sentence of 18 months per bullet for unlicensed persons or anyone with serious previous charges.

Mandatory sentence is already 10 years for a firearm, 5 for a round of ammunition.
