Yes free weight section is quiet big ranging from dumb bells 1kg upto 55kg with 2 or 3 sets of most of the weights.
Its very busy between 5-8 as everyone finishes work but any other time its fine.

the main thing that drives people away from westwood is the price. I only use the gym in westwood but basically everything else is free regards to classes, tennis, wall climbing, fitness classes etc.

I've talked westwood down by about 40% in the past, I had to walk to to achieve it though - then they were hounding me down the phone for weeks afterwards. Got a free day or two out of them before too.

Didn't join in the end though #stingyc*nt

Regency Hotel is the place to go for equipment and value for money. I was a member in WW for a few months good equipment just hated the place.

Have experienced DCU, WW, And Regency. If you can talk your way into the High performance gym in DCU then that should be your destination without a doubt.

Westwood has a big variety of equipment but a lot is rubbish. Great range of dumbbells however and good benches & racks. If your talking their joining fee down 40% then you've given them 40% more than they would have settled for. They're desperate for members.

Regency is surprisingly well stocked and good value.

Join the Ben dunne gym in santry. It's cheap compared to most gyms as they keep the staff numbers low and know most people only use their membership for a few months and give up. Therefore they sell a few more places knowing that the gym can handle more people.

People say the regency is packed and I never hear anything great about it. My friends say there is a huge queue sometimes for the equipment.

Personally I would wait till mid february to join the gyms as they have seen that people aren't using their membership. Plus there is little demand as most people have joined for new years resolution bs. Meaning you get a great price for membership.

February is generally busier in gyms as a lot of people don't join until the end of January when they get paid. So you have all the old members still using the club and all the new ones.

This is correct. Worked in commercial gyms for years before going out on my own and this was always the case. Gyms were generally very quiet first 2-3 weeks of jan
