I intend hooking up an engine for my boat in the new year. I need to buy senders and gauges for revs, oil pressure, temp, amps. Has anyone here hooked up their senders to a tablet instead of gauges?
I've done some googling. There are some systems that plug into the engine management system but thats no good for engines with no engine management system :(

Hi nulabert, as every outboard is different you would need the running spec's for your specific engine to give the right temp, oil pressure and RPM reading's this software is normally only given to main dealers and registered mechanics of that brand of outboard although they can come up for sale from time to time on ebay. You would also need something to convert the power output from the outboard to something that your tablet can handle if your engine doesn't have a plug in port. So unless you are a computer whizz I think it would be better to stick with the standard gauges.
You could get an acoustic tachometer app that will give you a rpm reading https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.javiery.rpmgauge&hl=en but I wouldn't depend on it.:)
