Truffles - super-harvest in Britain

Was listening to BBC Radio 4 this morning (Farming Today http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qj8q) and they had a piece on the bumper year for truffles in the UK, featuring a man out with his dog hunting for truffles.

Anyone in Ireland harvesting these ultra-profitable shrooms?

I was given a pressie about six months ago of one of those trees potted up with the truffle 'compost' - I'll let you know how many zillions of euro I dig up in a few years time!

Shouldn't you plant it out in your own oak forest so it infects all the others, if you want to be a zillionaire?

Are they the same type you get in Italy/France??

Now, Lads/Lassies, it's Christmas Eve and I've got other things to worry about other than where my (possible future fortune :)) truffle tree originated. I believe it was from a garden centre, somewhere in the middle of Ireland, but you'd need to wait until after the festivities before I go checking labels in the murk and mud! But I promise I will post details asap. Happy Christmas!
