I used to wonder why innocuous videos like '10 hours of rain' would have hundreds of down-votes on YouTube - I've only just realised that it's most likely people who are trying to manipulate YouTube's algorithm so it offers a selection of videos more in line with their interests.

Unless they have them in the background as white noise to drown out other sounds when they try to sleep.

Yes, I sometimes use them to help me drop off. I just wondered why they had thousands of thumbs-down clicks and figured that it's people who've been directed to the video by YouTube and clicked 'thumbs-down' in an attempt to manipulate its 'suggestions' algorithm.

You also can't download for use offline (or at least I think you can't, I've only the haziest grasp of the whole thing tbh, but have a free account from Vodafone)

It's also where the term blackguard comes from; people who used to look after all the dirty/black cooking utensils.

That makes no sense as blackguard is a serious insult?

That a fada over a vowel in Irish means it is a long vowel sound (from “fada” meaning “long”). I realised this in sixth year in school.

The meaning of the name of the band "scissor sisters". Loved their music, bought their albums back in the day. How many times did I see their logo?! And today listening to one of their songs on the radio it just dawned on me. Total face palm moment, jaw dropped a little at how I didn't cop it before

I've always assumed Afric O'Connell was a guy as I never listen to Radio 2. I only found out different this evening when she turned up on Drivetime to talk about The Spice Girls.

Don't know if its classes as obvious, but only found out this morning from listening to the radio that the band The Happy Monday's hit song "Step On" is a cover version/re-working of a song from the 70's.

Never ever heard that mentioned before anywhere!
