    http://www.atheistcensus.com/

This has been going around for a while now, so some of you may have seen it. I was thinking about creating a thread on this, but before I got around to it, the site suffered a DDOS attack and was brought down. It is just after going back up now, so I'll create a thread about it.

You answer six questions on the site, get an email, and validate the email. And that's it. Then, the site has statistics on the basis of the answers. I'm going to post the statistics as they currently are here. It'll be interesting to compare how it is now and how it'll be in say, a year.

    Top 10 Countries
    United States: 2718
    Brazil: 2566
    Australia: 932
    United Kingdom: 525
    Canada: 503
    India: 280
    Philippines: 110
    Indonesia: 95
    Germany: 92
    Israel: 90

    Census2.jpg

Edit: I forgot to include the numbers for Ireland. Currently at 82.

Just completed the census. Takes less than a minute.

    Now 211 in Ireland

Looking at the age pie-chart, the future is looking good!

Was there official figures from the proper Irish census for number of atheists?

Can't remember when I was completing the 'religion' section if it gave you the option for 'atheist'.

Did it there, confirmation email went to my spam folder so be sure to check that if you don't see it in your inbox.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Looks good! My one problem with it is that the map will end up looking something like this:

What if this is like one of those elaborate traps to tag unbelievers?

I was thinking that! I gave my spam address in case they tried to send me a soul or something as an attachment.

Registered and validated in less than 5 mins. Interesting stats for Ireland, also select Holy See under Country Data to find the loneliest atheist on the planet!

Filled it in there. Only took a minute to do and verify. Must send it on to my atheistic cohorts!

1,000+ atheists in Iran. Oh dear. Oh dear. That can't happen.

Over 730 now, growing nicely. :p

Interesting, if unsurprising, to see that the percentage of former catholics in Ireland who are now atheists almost exactly matches the percentage of "catholics" noted in the last census (86% versus 84%), and that almost 80% are university graduates or post-grads.

The names/numbers will be forwarded to Vatican CPU. When the rapture happens, we get to skip the queue and go straight to hell.

Excellent! I hate queuing (and carrying any form of bag but I assume luggage will not be required).

The only baggage we'll be allowed bring are our sins.

I kinda wanted to bump this so anyone who might not have seen it before will see it again. The numbers are going up very slowly.

Meanwhile, in real life this is a nonsense, and not reflective of cultural belief systems at all. Some of the most vehement atheists I know came to it late in life, and are not online.

The census like it or not, is the most comprehensive document we have in relation to belief. An online poll is silly.

Not sure if "The census like it or not, is the most comprehensive document we have in relation to belief" as many are filled out by the head of the family, & are not private from other family members, and there's the old fill in catholic as usually even though not believing in the religion or a god.

One interesting thing to take from this poll is Turkey and Iran, now Germany is creeping up on the outside in 10th place, would have thought they would have been within top5.

The irony of using the internet to express the view that expressing views on the internet is pointless is noted.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
