No Messi, no Inesta, no Xavi for Barca.

    No Wanyama, Ledley for us.

Need to go for a win from the start tbh, have to assume Benfica will get a point.

Think Spartak are going to get 1 or 2 here, Celtic's team doesn't look that great.

Need to settle into this, a bit scrappy at the moment, lots of tasty challenges to start off with. Thought Commons was going to pick up a yellow in the first couple of minutes.

If that's a handball, shouldn't it be a yellow card too, no?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,534 ✭✭✭SomethingElse

    Vital interception from Ambrose there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

Spartak look much the better side so far.

Time to add to the tension a wee bit.
Benefica are arguably on top at the moment and definitely had the better chances so far. :)

    Who was marking him?

Good ball and finish all the same.

emenike bossing the celtic defense all night....class finish by Ari though.

That Wilson bloke looks out of his depth. That was the most ridiculous attempt at clearing the ball off the line ever too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭born2bwild

Eminike. What a player. World class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

some strength, brushed kayal off like he was a child

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

    corners need to improve massively

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 10,878 Mod ✭✭✭✭PauloMN

Charlie's corners are brutal tonight. Keeper has caught at least two of them and punched another.

Yellow for Kayal there, not good for 2nd half.

Apart from grabbing the ball what could any other defender have done?

I'm not entirely sure it was going in? He was as well off leave it, any touch and it was guaranteed to end up in the net. Looked like it was heading for the post. He wasn't to know but it was going to end up in anyway

That Nigerian striker looks some player. He's capable of always creating something from nothing. You'd imagine he'll be attracting bigger clubs in the near future

Committed to heading it off the line and taking the fall.

Don't know why but he pulled out of attempting any type of header on it. He had enough time to head that off the line.

On second viewing it certainly looked like he could have headed it out from the goal indeed. Think he tried to head it over and made a complete hash of it. As I've said I think it wasn't even going in, but to be fair he wasn't really to know

Just watched it again and he made such a bollocks of it :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Just saw it there. Missed opportunity for a heroic acrobatic bicycle kick. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,406 ✭✭✭Pompey Magnus

I can't blame him for that, he took a chance that he might get it onto the crossbar. Don't think any defender would have kept it out. It was a foot or two off the line by the time it was at a height possible to reach.

Hard luck Sammy. Better from the Hoops. Offside my bollocks.

Messi time in Camp Nou. Song has been threading some lovely passes through so if Leo comes on I'd be optimistic for him breaking the record tonight.

I assume Messi warming up is why the crowd cheered there in Celtic Park...hope the team don't assume Barca are winning and start playing for the draw :pac:

I think they were cheering McGeady! His name was been chanted as he warmed up.

He'll probably score the winner now

Ledley on for Brown or Kayal please.
