Has being a Boardsie changed you?

I chat with friends and I realise that I often have a somewhat evolved perspective sometimes and a lot of the time it's because I take a lot of wisdom and information from online discussions and particularly Boards. I suppose I've come to realise that Boards has broadened my horizons to a certain extent.

    Any similar sentiments out there?

I am slightly more patient and willing to hear other peoples points of view. Slightly.

    I don't consider myself a 'boardsie'

I just see this as another site to talk ****e 90% of the time

So no it hasn't changed me

I take a lot of wisdom and information

    From after hours?

Ah, I'd say slightly. I rarely say
    "your'e ma"
in verbal conversations anymore. It was a regular occurrence at one stage.

I have found myself saying "I read on boards.ie that..." a lot since joining.

Yes. Boards has completely changed me. I used to be a man and now I'm a woman.

Using a site like this regularly would improve a persons literary skills and the ability to articulate.

I thought I was better than people before, I think I'm better than people now, so no!

I've found myself being nicer to people (shudder) and spending a little more of my money lest I see a story about myself on here with social outrage and indignation being shown towards my behaviour.

I've discovered that folk back home are as depressingly backwards as when I left and in some cases it seems IQs have dropped.

    Or.

I've discovered that there are a lot of intelligent, sound, reasonable and decent people here and on some days I feel shockingly homesick for Ireland.

Depends on what thread, I'm on :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,705 ✭✭✭Johro

Yeah, I've become more cynical and am now convinced the planet's better off without people on it. :p

I wouldn't say it's changed me but I do find myself giving answers like 'Atari Jaguar' when I'm asked a multiple choice question.

I find I'm better able to pick apart people's arguments now than I was before I joined.

But that might just because I'm older now than when I joined.

I think you'll find everyone on here is older now than when they joined.

    Coincidence?

    Hardly.

Yes definitely. I always assume we all have beards on here so nearing a boards beers I always grow one so that I'll find it if I decide to go.
I have a better understanding of the public sector now too.
I stare at hipsters with absolute disgust.
    I'm pun crazy now.
I want to kill people wearing beats with a pair of skinny jeans.
I think Jim Corr is an out of date troll.

That's all I got right now.
