...Even for math past papers to check answers.

Are they stored in the library or is it at the lecturer's discretion whether they are to be made available ?

Not to my knowledge, but I'm 2 years out of undergrad at this stage, so it might have changed. Would be very surprised though, especially considering the tendency of some lecturers to reuse large chunks of exam paper.

Compare notes with a classmate, maybe?

Nope. Lecturers are very VERY tocuhy about giving out exam solutions, as especially with Maths, you could just spend 2 weeks working off the solutions and never need to go to a lecture and they'd be out of a job!!

If this is about the Quantitative Economics subject you posted about recently, you could email the lecturer and ask for solutions as you're thinking about taking the subject and want to gauge your ability / the complexity before deciding.

They have them, they're just very reluctant to give them out.

You could download the papers off sisweb. (Information for students tab) Then you can try the questions. If there are any problems, the lecturer can help you. That's what they're there for.

We use to just print off the maths papers and then go to the maths support center and we'd get them done out there plus youd be learning while doing so,not sure if thats still open though

They cannot give out someones past papers as it is personal documentation.

To my knowledge, all exam scripts are kept for a certain amount of time and then destroyed.

Sometimes your society (e.g. LawSoc, MedSoc or whatever) will maintain a list of sample answers/essays.
